Re: 1964 Suburban Pics
Looks good Protrash.
I really like those big smooth wheels. Burbans seem to have so much more attitude with the drop in altitude. I know what you mean about as low as you can go. The only way I can get mine any lower would be cutting the floor for a notch. Can't bring myself to do that. Burbs Rule! Dave |

Re: 1964 Suburban Pics
Thanx very much everyone; glad you like it and hope it inspires someone to go turn a couple wrenches. I look at the stuff on this message board and it always gets me motivated. Cool fabrication, engine builds, and just cleaning up a stocker is always nice.
Dino; I will be going to Goodguys as a spectator and not driving anything. I'll look you up if you're there. Dave; thanx buddy, havent seen you on here in awhile....ever get your interior fixed up? John(Chief); thanx dude...still slow but Im getting the parts together and trying to figure out how a clean install would go. gulfcoast66; thanx for the compliments.

Re: 1964 Suburban Pics
Digging this out of the graveyard.......we all know the sickness. I've been collecting ideas and parts (Craigslist is your friend) and waited 'til this weekend to do a makeover on the 'burb. I liked the truck but it was not exactly what I was shooting for, so I decided to make some changes.
First up, my bags leaked. There were to many fittings due to the 'manifold' I made for the valves. I scored a new tank and will hang the valve assemblies off the tank. It eliminates numerous fittings. I will also be adding gauges to the front 2 bags. Secondly I'm changing the look of the truck.......I'm not ready for white walls, but I'm going back somewhere into the late 70's and early 80's for a different look. After I pulled out some pieces of the suspension I had to bolt on my new rolling stock and check it out. It is SUPER low...... I'm sporting 295/50/15's in the rear and 265/50/15's in the front, mounted on some pick-up Rallys. The truck is so low that a jack is still stuck under the frame, but I was too tired to get it out. I'll be updating as I go this weekend....more to come. I just had to show a hint of the new look.

Re: 1964 Suburban Pics
I'd be willing to bet the 'Deluxe' panhard kit would do the trick.....mounts to the lower passenger trailing arm for larger radius.

I'm diggin' the different look too!! Thanx Alan.....need to get to work on my p/u as its starting to get some surface rust from the last sanding...

Re: 1964 Suburban Pics
I do have a small update.....Sunday I mostly fixed up some of the previous work and did a bunch of head scratching. Fitting those tires is a *****. I trimmed my fender lips some more and decided to adjust the panhard. I moved it 5/16th's toward the passenger side. I think its a little too far and I may have to split the difference and bring it back some. NOTE...measure the side to side at the same hite to compare...I think this threw me a little off, oh well. I have the adjustable panhard from CPP, by the way.
I did get the tank in its new home and partially plumbed. I like it alot. It tucks up nicely and looks clean. I may re-route the compressor leads up over the way I had them before. I needed 45* fittings to do it and I didnt have them.....check the pics, I have everything else. Dino warned me about this....in the pic of the valves and various fittings, the fittings are about $250 worth. I got the two front sets of valves mounted but no pic of that. They are the middle two rows on the bench. I need to add my 3/8's fittings to the other set as I am stepping down a size in the rear bags. Keeping the 1/2'' to the front but adding a gauge for the front two corners. Here are the pics.......I'll get some more soon.
