Re: rip boyd coddington (merged )
Didn't he pretty much kick off this whole sport truck movement in the early 90s? I remember reading that he was the first guy to make roll pans commercially available to people. I think it was from a early 90s Chevy truck.
Anyway, sorry to see him go. |

Re: rip boyd coddington (merged )
Alright already, you met the guy.
Back on topic, it truly is a sad day when enthusiasts who are so passionate about what they love, lose someone who has had such an influence on their avocation. It's a heartbreaker for sure. He will be missed by all. Just to clarify, I hear people mouthing off about how Chip Foose would be nothing without Boyd, and how Chip got his start with Boyd. Chip only started working with Boyd in the early '90s right? He actually started with his father's company, if I remember correctly, when he was a boy. I'll stop there, I apologize for straying from the subject. Rest in peace Boyd Coddington.

Re: rip boyd coddington (merged )
Sad day for sure...
But what is even worse.. the shop is still open today. Not even a day of mourning.. or even the rest of the week.

Re: rip boyd coddington (merged )
Regardless of industry or sport etc. When a icon passes it leaves a void. Never met him or watched the show but his talent spoke for itself. Like NASCAR its not the same without Dale Sr. But like the hot rod industry it wiil go on. Best wishes for the family and company.

Re: rip boyd coddington (merged )
Okay already bud, we have established that you met him.
Here's a little tid-bit of information for those that don't know too much about Boyd. Has anyone come forward with a cause of death? It wasn't related to his fall, was it? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boyd_Coddington

Re: rip boyd coddington (merged )
I met and talked to Boyd in 1996 on the Hot Rod Power Tour and that guy was allright in my book. He was a critical fellow, but so was a lot of famous people. It is a shame that he passed on. There was a lot of vision in his eyes.

Re: rip boyd coddington (merged )
The link is HERE.
I find it odd that NONE of the american news agencies are posting this information anywhere, online, print or TV. The only article comes from the, "China View".!? If the information is true, it is a real shame that NOTHING has been mentioned in the american media about a True American icon. Someone should call the shop and verify the information......seriously! Last edited by HoupPhotography; 03-01-2008 at 12:37 AM. |

Re: boyd coddington
everything i have read just tells that he has been in and out of the hospital a few times before he died but I haven't read anything telling why he died or why he went to the hospital.

An icon to our sport/hobby. A great loss! Terrible taste in women and shop managers though!!!!! I had to stop watching the show because of Joe and Duh-Wayne.
