Re: "Rice Rocket'
bedliner is cool. also rear end questions you will have to save for a mechanic cause i don't know. YOu don't have to etch frame for bedliner and raptor or something like that will work. you can probably roll that paint on but i have never done it.

Re: "Rice Rocket'
Hey guys I gotta ? but didnt wanna take up room in the main forum. What kind of air tool can I attach a wire wheel to?
DA? (Dual action sander), any way to attach it safely to a 3/8 air wrench? Or do I have to buy what i think is called a die grinder? Whats a good brand. All my air tools so far are ingersol rand and 1 is a name i forgot (not junk just forgot lol). Thanks! Reason for using air: Dad said runing a electric drill for along period of time will ruin it. (I would be using his drill lol so def. a no no). Thanks again Im glad you consider this progress. I will consider it progress when Its on the downhill slide (starting to paint/install stupid tank). I did a really dumb move the day before the teardown, I topped my gas tank off. So i'll probably run the gas outa it before I hook fuel line to my blazer tank cant wast 40$ in gas!!!

Re: "Rice Rocket'
Get yourself a die grinder, I'm pretty sure mine is a ingersol rand but not sure. Trust me it will pay for itselft. Get some stones and stuff with it too. I have no idea what i'd do without mine.

Yeah buddy that tire is pretty bad, plus with you not being used to it I can see how it would be stuck. Snow sucks.

Re: "Rice Rocket'
I liked it on the 4x4 wheeler.
Got progress today!! Got trailing arm/axle separated. Got old bushings out thanks to 22ton press (i forgot all about it and was like HEY we've gota big press in the back of the shop). Cut all my misc exhaust brackets (gotta weld some cleaner brackets back on). My bud's uncles friend has a die grinder ima borrow to clean my frame with. A die grinder WILL ACCEPT WIRE WHEEL THAT'D FIT A DRILL CORRECT???!?!?!?!?! Got my diff cover off, I do have 373's out back waahoo! Teeth looked good also. Thats about all for today. I wired wheel'd all my nuts bolts ive taken off so far. If I got spare coin I may buy new ones. What should I expect to pay to have my trailing arms/rearend sand blasted? Im debating doing it myself or taking it to someone. Because I have to clean playsand outa blaster. Buy new sand. Dress up in the cold and blast. Put everything away etc. What should i expect to pay to have 2 traioling arms blasted along with a rear axle/misc brackets? Will a wire wheel fit on a die grinder (air)?!?! Those are my 2 main ?s Also, I have pics but for somereason computer isnt reading SD card (sorry im taking cell phone pics but never have camera batterys and always have my cell on me)

Re: "Rice Rocket'
big sledgehammer block of wood and effort oil wd 40 kerosene soaking overnite for a few days and a big wrench and 4 ft bar and a friend lol
frame looks good from the side (po paint bomb job) gonna wire wheel it tom. I guess. And gonna hit it with probably bedliner because it barely scrapes with a screwdriver 2 thin coats! Im installing the tank as soon as it gets painted. May just do a filler thru the floor to get it back on the road. Then slowly work on a bedside mod. dunno yet. I was gonna toss blocks but my u bolts i didnt have to cut so unless I come across some u bolts at the parts stores im not gonna use my blocks i made already lol Bought u bolts before but i told em 3inch axle tube they ordered 3 inch from tip to tip and cant return emnow there went 30 bucks! I may do some drop componets one day (gotta pull front clip off next and buiild my motor and then bodywork) drop is just for looks not functional. my suspension is new but not dropped)

Re: "Rice Rocket'
haha yeah those u bolts can be tough.
sounds like you got a bad deal on a pair. yeah drops dont gain you much but looks. do your engine work before you drop the thing. but you got the hole rear end apart now it would make sense to just drop it now. but i see the dilemma your in. and bed linear sounds like it will work just fine. are you painting your axle and trailing arms? well get going on wire wheeling that frame. i used a electric grinder and a wire wheel to do mine. keep up the good work!

Re: "Rice Rocket'
I started wire wheeling and said forgetttt this. It'd take HOURS
So i cleaned up the stoped up sandblaster. Gonna bedline axles trailing arms shock brackets and frame. WHERE CAN I GET SANDBLASTING SAND AT AND HOW MUCH LBS. WILL IT TAKE ME??? I think ima leave the stock tank in the cab and run the gas outa it till its dry, (i topped it off before I tore it down stupid me). Then switch over to my blazer tank. And for time being cut a hole in the bed floor for a filler and put my bed on so I can get it back on the road. I'll slowly work on a bedside filler (I dont know anything about body work and im getting impatient). More bedliner/paint brushes. Sand for blaster (how much)? And 3qt rearend oil. (should I go synthetic). No pics for today didnt get much done except make a big fire in the stove, cook pizza on it. And get the blaster ready! Once again, WHERE CAN I GET SANDBLASTING SAND AT? Thanks guys! Borrowed my buds die grinder and it flew apart! Its a cambell hausfield, i thought that was good stuff?!?!

Re: "Rice Rocket'
Ok, play sand doenst work in blaster. I paid 10$ per 100lbs. of blasting sand a a renting place. Bought 7 bags. Took 5 bags to do 2 trailing arms. WTF this is $$$ but they looked good bare metal (sorry no pics). I wiped em with laquer thinner then dried em and blew em off then painted wiht bedliner. Have pic on my phone but too tired to upload tonite. Took like 3 hrs on/off of blasting. Im going to try to filter the sand with a window screen and reuse it (why not?). Will blasting a baked on grease rearend cut thru grease and rust? I already put new oil/gasket in the rearend so its blast wipe paint. Not sure if ima try to get the truck outa the garage to blast the frame or just wirewheel it best I can. Really happy with bedliner so far. Have 1gallon saved for rearend/frame still. Thanks guys! More pics soon. Also, any advise on running my blazer tank filler thru the bed floor for time being? Any tips (floor fill is temp.)

Re: "Rice Rocket'
I'm up for a road trip down south! You should be able to filter the sand out. As far as your rearend it should blast through it, it just might take a little more time.

Re: "Rice Rocket'
Unless you got like crazy strong air pressure shoting that sand, it wont cut through grease, at least not for me. Just knock most of it off with a scrapper and then sand blast the rust.

Re: "Rice Rocket'
Thats what dad said. Are you sandblasting your 86? I chizeled, oven cleanerd pressure washed alot of it off. But still some remaining. I hate sandblasting. I may have the wrong setup who knows. But it took alot of sand/time for 2 trailing arms.
uploading pics hang on. Can anybody tell me if I put my bushings on my trailing arms in correct?

Re: "Rice Rocket'
Cant wait to get my frame/rearend blasted/painted. Do they sell the fuel hose for the size of my blazer tank at the parts storees? Somebody said its not a popular size (I wanna say 1 3/8) and its HARD to find. I plan on doing a hole in my bed floor for a filler then slowly when I find time lol do a filler with a newer fuel door/or sidemarker.
