Re: jimmy build
Got a buddy that did it to his mud truck. Looks a little off though.
Make a post on pirate or ck5 offering to swap your drw to srw hubs. There are a ton of people doing it. You need the drw hubs to run the hummer beadlocks.

Re: jimmy build
no major updates
the girlfriend and I are getting ready to move so moneys focus on the house i had to change to power steering pump again due to same screeching noises but turns out it wasn't the pump so now I'm looking into the water pump... we'll see if that works. As far as the axle choice I chose to go with a front Dana 60 out of a early Dodge (was cheep [$650 with 4.56s] and minor minor difference from Chevy Dana 60) with 4.56s because of the pure stoutness of the axle. For the rear axle I went with an Eaton H052 from a 72 Chevy utility truck because I feel that the Eaton is an awesome axle. all steel housing, similar design as a 9 in, and more ground clearance (not a huge difference but definitely noticeable) than a 14 bolt without sacrificing the strength similar to that of a 14 bolt. the only two downsides to Eaton's are very limited aftermarket support and limited factory gear ratios. but if your like me, Eaton's in there stock form are beef enough for what I need it for, and you can usually find one with 4.56s stock pretty easily. here is a pic reference Dana 60(its upside down in this pic) and the Eaton Last edited by 70 beast; 06-11-2011 at 05:55 PM. |

Re: jimmy build
well i got it into the garge...let the teardown begin
it was a tight squeez even with the rollers got the 60 out and onto some stands to do the inspection. everything looks good. no excessive scaring on the kingpins, no noticble play on the springs and everything feels nice and tight. gears are in great shape too. just waiting on a free weekend to go to my buddies shop to finish milling down my hubs so i can swap it in. do the "To Do" list: 1. mill D60 hubs to SRW 2. swap in D60 (make top spring plates) 3. do 52" front swap 4. budget shackle flip with 56" rears 5. rock sliders 6. hook up all gauges (only have 1functioning right now) 7. bedline the inside 8. paint.... on the fence on what color to do still but leaning towards some sort of blue again. should keep me busey for the next few months Last edited by 70 beast; 06-11-2011 at 05:58 PM. |

Re: jimmy build
Hahah yah my dad thought the wieght of the truck was on it but then he seen the jack stands. I was surprised the boards came in as handy as they've been with this project haha.
As far as an update, ill be picking up the ubolt plates, and a bigger ubolt so i can button up the front. Then i need to price some metal for crossover arms so i can get some steering going on this. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: jimmy build
Got some ubolt plates and a large ubolt the other day from WFO concepts in auburn ca. Very well built pieces and awesome customer service!!!
Painted them up today and buttoned the front up and got it sitting on all 4s again. Might have to move my front mount forward to get a better shackle angle and tire clearence. Ill roll this thing out tm morni g amd get picks before i take it apart again to fix the front mount hahah. Posted via Mobile Device |

56's installed
Yesterday was a good day!
Picked up my lil brothers yesterday to give me a hand swapping the springs and hangers out. took about 4-5 hours total. I gotta remove the drive shaft today because I think its limiting the travel being that the slip has bottomed out but I need to install some zero rates to push the axle back 1.5" or get some of ruffstuff's multi-position spring perches. anyways....PICS here you can notice the back end is higher than the front....i think the drive shaft is preventing the springs from settling all the way now i need to move the front spring hangers forward and move on to the gas tank (needs a float, the filter sock, and needs to be reinstalled. |

Re: jimmy build
Did some tinkerng with the front suspension today.
Moved the front hanger forward ~2.5" to get a better shackle angle...worked pretty well IMO. Also took off the rear drive line, which was bottomed out and preventing the rear suspension from compressing anymore. decided to rum a zero-rate and RuffStuff multi-position spring perches to move the axle back ~3" shackle angle (looks good now) front hanger moved forward Pass. side driver side |

Re: jimmy build
Did some laboring on this pig on monday...seemed fit since it was labor day hahah.
Didnt get everything that I wanted but I did get the rear springs flipped around (56s are offset 26/30, so I put the long side forward to move rear axle back 4") and I got the gas tank in with a functioning sending unit so now my gas gauge works!!!!! Still gotta get the oil pressure line hooked up. Also went to PnP on sunday...got a 2wd sector shaft, pitman arm off a heep XJ, a tierod assembly off a late 80s K5, and ordered my crossover arm and cap...all for $140. So once its all said and done, I should be ~$180 into my crossover steering which isnt bad. Ill push the truck out in the next few days to get a new side shot with the rear axle move...working from 7am-4pm and school from 5pm-11pm sure does put a hinder on workin on the truck but its worth it in the end. Re: jimmy build
might have to get a zerorate for when the spring compresses, it'll be into the rear fender, but Ill trim that some more and see what my clearances are
