Re: 1st Project: 71 C10 SWB
Hey RCbowtie69, Thanks!!! Yes, it's an LT-1. The guy helping me assemble it specializes in them and says that I should expect about 450hp with the current cam, 1.6 roller rockers, 24# injectors, Stage 2 port on heads & intake, and long tube headers. The are stock with 10.5:1 compression. Can't wait to listen to it through the 3" exhaust with flowmaster super 44's and Dr. Gas x-pipe.

Re: 1st Project: 71 C10 SWB
This weekends progress includes:
1. Tacked in patch panel on left front fender. 2. Welded in fuel filler patch panel. 3. Welded in the three firewall patch panels. 4. Removed the right side rocker panel. Have to order the A & B-pillar patches. Each front corner requires the floor, kick, A-pillar and rocker patch panels. All cab supports need replacing and rear needs B-pillars and cab corners. I suppose I know what my summer consists of.... Justin

Re: 1st Project: 71 C10 SWB
Made some progress this weekend. I replaced the right front fender tip. I forgot to get a pic of the finished product but here are a few during the replacement. Also, went to local pick-n-pull and cut a roof off a truck to repair the roof panel on mine, vendors wanted $250.00 just for shipping on a new panel. The whole roof panel cost me $50.00 and wasn't rusted in the typical spots. Also got the rear back glass for $20.00.
Anyone have input on the best way to replace the roof panel? I'm currently torn between cutting about four smaller patch panels from the new roof or just cut across the back and replace panel as a whole. I'm leaning toward replacing the whole panel so I can get in there between the inner and outer panels and apply the rust converter/encapsulator inside. Thanks, Justin

Re: 1st Project: 71 C10 SWB
Man, you are doing some nice work on the rust battle! I'm not sure about the roof replacement. I have sectioned one before and it was a pain to get the contour back like the original because of warpage.
I like the idea of replacing the whole roof if you can. Not sure if you can just cut the pillars and weld it back? I like the new roof, it looks pretty clean. You cut it off at the pull a part? I guess they let you use power tools? The one I go to doesn't allow any power cutting tools. I guess they had too many fires? You basically have to hack saw panels. |

Yea, the pick-n-pull here allowed my to take in the generator to operate grinder as long as it had the fuel already poured into it, couldn't take a fuel can. I think i could have rented it out and made some extra money. Hey RCbowtie69, Thanks also, I'll be sure to look him up. Thanks for the info.

Re: 1st Project: 71 C10 SWB
Hey RCbowtie69, Thanks for the confidence. I'm currently waiting on a set of the ebfabman DVD's to arrive before I get to far into replacing the metal on the cab. Worked out nice since my job has consumed my time the past couple of weeks not leaving me time for the truck. Hopefully the next few weeks will be better.

Just got through watching the DVD's and there is lots or good info in there. Actually I will watch again before I get going good on the floor items to help reinforce some of his techniques. Thanks.

Hey RCbowtie69, Thanks for checking in, although I hate to say I haven't been able to get anything done in past 6 weeks and it looks as if it will be first week of Sept before I'll have a chance to get to it. Hope you have been able to have some progress on yours.
