Re: Lets see pics of wood beds.......
As original as it gets. Except for the hideous "slightly" wrong color green that the PO painted the wood somewhere along the way.... But I love it!

Re: Lets see pics of wood beds.......
Thanks! I'm looking for a color that will complement my maroon 69. Yours is a possibility.
Below is a pic of the original wood that I'm replacing as part of my restoration. The maroon paint is pretty well gone somewhat exposing the black that GM applied under the paint. Hopefully, I'll be doing the bed floor this summer. |

Re: Lets see pics of wood beds.......
Should be able to do it by hand with any automotive polishing compound. Just make sure to select one that is not too course.

I buffed it with the same 3M products I used on the paint.

Re: Lets see pics of wood beds.......
I don't think I posted pictures of the bed before.
Not as pretty or traditional as some of yours. But the price was very close to $0 since we had it left over from a house project of the Boss'. One day or so's work with a table saw, square, tape, jig saw and drill. I'll probably put some strips like I P-Shopped in somewhere down the line.

Re: Lets see pics of wood beds.......
Here's my daughters bed. I used T-rex decking material. Had to dado out a space for the strips and drop some holes, but the look is what I was going for. Truck is painted flat black and this stuff costs around $25 per 8' section. Ill finish the last couple boards this weekend.

Here's a F**d that was at the Goodguys show a few years back. A little high tech for my taste, but I can appreciate the amount of money he had just into the carbon fiber.

Re: Lets see pics of wood beds.......
I'll bring this one back with an idea. I had strongly considered converting my bed to a wood bed before I found a beautiful rust free bed. I'm a woodworker and work with a company that sawmills salvaged timber so big pieces of wood are fairly available. I wanted to make a bed with a book matched pair of boards between the wheel wells, then one piece front and back of the wheel wells. that would mean that the bed would be a total of 6 pieces of wood. I have never seen this done, but I know I could pull it off... It would take a year or 2 to get the wood ready to be used so I may still do it in the future.

Trek decking. Not as pretty as wood, for sure, but durable.
