Hopefully it won't be too bad. I need an adjustable TPS, and I should be good. Well, at least according to the drivability guru up front. That was my first stop this morning.

I am just about ready to roll. I found my high idle problem, and it was a real rookie mistake. I used the original '74 throttle cable because the one that was in my '87 looked way too long. Anyhow, it was about 3/8-1/2" too short, and was holding the throttle blades open. Duh. I set the timing, topped off the fluids, and put the dash and front end back together. Tomorrow I just need to replace the throttle cable and put the hood on, and it is onto the trailer.

I am really happy with how everything has turned out. I would have liked to get a little bit of seat time in before heading south, but it wasn't meant to be. The gauges turned out great, and everything seems to work. I painted inside the cluster white and used 168 bulbs, and it looks way better than stock.

My buddy Scott has this one's twin. We bought them at the same time. I don't think he is actively trying to sell his, but mine is used. He may be interested in leting his go, since his Jimmy is a GMC.

Well, I took the truck for it's maiden voyage Saturday. Not too bad, just needs a little love before we hit the open road. I think the timing may be off a little bit, it sputters when you floor it. Other than that, it sails down the road well. I was able to finish putting the headliner trim and kick panels in, and washed up the truck

Sunday, I pulled the inner fenders and painted them up (huge improvement), then buffed and waxed teh truck. I also used it as a work bench to repair my kitchen cabinets. It is still a work truck, after all.

I need to take some pictures outside, those were taken about midnight last night. The buffer quit right in the middle of the roof, so I will finish that up tonight. I plan to drive it to work tomorrow, barring anything crazy.

I found this on the camera card this morning, too. That's my house, and my dog, but not my car. It sure looks good sitting there, though. We took a nice, leisurely 165 MPH ride down Central Expressway on the way to Houston right after that pic, averaging a little over 100MPH for the trip. Unfortunately, my buddy showed up during nap time, so Bella didn't get to celebrate her Italian heritage.

excellent job Jon, I have to get back on the grind this week; kind of waiting for pay day and hopefully order the suspension stuff. So that's the Gallardo u were speaking of.. it is nice and i bet one helluva ride.

I don't know about next level, just cleaning it up a bit. I am guilty of leaving it sit outside in the sun, too. My motivation has been that I want it to look good for the guys at Vintage Air. They put up photos of the GMC they used for theit 67-72 kit, and I decided that I had a ways to go to get some good pictures of mine. I hated to destroy the patina it had, but I like it both ways. I debated about the interior, too, but I had it. I will end up geting the seat redone a little bit down the road, with a little retro vibe.

The TBI was a bit of a compromise as well. If I had any sense, I should have left the carb. I was thinking LS, but didn't want to spend the $$$. I got a killer deal on the TBI (thanks, twoodson), so I have been trying to keep it looking pretty much original, as much as I can. I was told the leaks had to stop, so I was going to have to reseal the original engine, and things got a little out of hand.

Careful letting things get out of hand, or keeping it "Simple" as Ken's story puts it.

I think the TBI is a nice mix of the old and the new. Which to me really fits for that truck. Scoti did a great job of getting the ball rolling, and you are just keeping it going.

So what's the deal with the Vintage Air?

The truck is going to San Antonio to get a new Vintage Air unit. They are redoing their kit, so it will be a guinea pig, so to speak. I am going to head out early Friday Morning, and hang out with Zimmstoy Friday night.

I have spent the last couple of evenings still cleaning and straightening things up. I have the dash and door panels here at work to be dyed. I need to go motivate my painters this morning again. See, even when you are the boss, you still wait on the painter.
