Re: your 2011 plans for your 67 72
My plan is to get my 72 up and running good and stopping. Then rockers and cab corners, followed by putting the bed and front clip from my 67 on it. Drive it this year as a 2wd with the 307 and 3 speed. Next year hopefully swap it to a 4x4 frame with either my 327 or the .040 over 5.7 Vortec from my 96 burb, backed up with a 4spd and 205 T-case. Some where in this time frame it's gonna get a fresh coat of medium (Sea foam) green.

Got my interior done in the three months I've had my 71. Also new outer and inner rockers and cab corners. Now will be going panel by panel to get my body work done. Hope to be ready for paint by summer.

Re: your 2011 plans for your 67 72
I started in, I think, September with a nicely built frame with all new ECE parts. I got it from a friend with two cabs, a 71 front clip, bed, and a messy 350/350 combo that is supposed to be mechanically sound, but was spewing juice at every crease.
I gave him the equivalent of about three grand in cash and other stuff, bought about seven grand in add'l parts, painted the interior, and got tips from everybody on the Forum. The new radiator is sitting, waiting to go on the newly repainted core. The front clip is waiting for the newly painted inners. The motor and trans are in the frame, and the 68 cab is bolted up, along with the 71 bed. New windows are in front and back, and I'm waiting for the weather to change so I can go to the shop and install the doors (mock up) and door windows. New ac vents are in, dash pad, steering wheel is ready, steering column is in. Time to do the sound deadening, now that the gas tank and vents are in the 68 cab. New 40 series Flowmasters came today. New one stick drive line has been made. Vintage Air is sitting in the garage waiting to be hooked up to the stuff that's hanging off of the new serpentine set up. All new under hood and lights wiring is ready to hook up after the front clip goes on. I was bummed about flaky paint/body discussions locally. So, she's stayng in primer as a driver for probably a good, long time. Last real decision is about the wheels and tires. I have 15 inch rallys now. But I really want Boss 338 20s...probably won't happen. Budget, you know. Posted via Mobile Device Posted via Mobile Device

Re: your 2011 plans for your 67 72
Hoping to get motivated again, and get the chassi back to rolling status. And possible get a cab back on. A friend of mine has a 69-72 (not sure which year exactly) cab that he had gone through and fixed completely, notched the firewall for a bigblock, it is immaculate!! Hes had it sitting in his shop for years and I have always bugged him about it asking if he'd sell. He finally said he was ready to deal and get some cash in his pocket.

Re: your 2011 plans for your 67 72
Well I will try to be brief but I am about $1000 away from purchasing the following parts and the tear down beginning. I have been scrimping the pennies for 3 years cause i like to buy it all at once and do it as fast as possible so it doesn't drag on. once I am in if i stay on track which I typically do I will be about 14 months out. I try to get all my projects done in a year but budget for 14 months. And the only reason it happens that fast is due to me having access to a full shop, paint and body shop and 3 friends that all make it happen. We all help each other on the projects I am the only one of the group that doesn't own a shop.
Tear down Powder coat frame blast body only have two panels to replace most has already be done shave all markers/gas filler/door handles shave drip rail Porterbuilt front dropmember/Control arms/rack steering Porterbuilt rear stage two Porterbuilt Hood Hinges Gas adjust Accuair E level No limit gas tank relocate Eagle 225 wheels 20x8 front 20x10 rear HOK ultra orange paint My interior guy already has the material and pattern I picked Plumb brake/fuel lines ididit tilt column just dashes dash all new glass And pretty much every other nut and bolt I can replace on the truck What is waiting currently for the other parts to be purchased Front and Rear 13 inch Brake kits new axles American Auto wire kit 400 SBC 700r4 tranny drive line all related cables/TV/ plate electric door kit new bumpers cowl hood 3 inch flowmaster 40 series camaro style headers

Re: your 2011 plans for your 67 72
The 69 C10 short step should be getting the 454 I just put together and TH 400 this spring. (if gas prices don't get any crazier!)
The 69 C30 wrecker is getting taken apart for it's restoration. The 71 C20 may finally get it's paint job if there's enough of me left to do it. Then there's my 2 Impalas... and 4 Chevelles... Jeez, I think I need to hire some help!

Re: your 2011 plans for your 67 72
My plan is to install this cab onto my truck and complete all bodywork before March of this year.
Also to change my stock spindles to 2 1/2 inch drop spindles and change the rear coils to 5 inch. Add my rear swaybar and junk those crappy Dostech shocks for some better ones. And anything else I can think of along the way. |

Find the last thing on my brakes ( I think it's the vacuum now) and put deadening material in the cab and switch to vinyl flooring to make it a lot quieter!!!

Re: your 2011 plans for your 67 72
I am looking to install a new All Aluminum Radiator with dual 14 inch fans and hopefully have my hood all done painted and put back on. I also want to add a AM FM stereo in the glove box somewhere, my stock AM only works in some places signal isn't strong enough. also attend to a oil leak I have that is driving me crazy.. AND Drive it like I stole it!

Re: your 2011 plans for your 67 72
Get the damn thing back on the road, just got to finish rewiring the engine, get her fired up and times following the new hi-torque starter, edelbrock performer eps intake manifold, pertronix conversion to the mallory twin point that I did before the weather became crappy. Then I need to fab up an aluminium fan shroud for the Volvo T5 electric fan, decide on a fan controller and then go through all the brake lines and brakes oh and fit the power brake conversion. Then she should be ready for a test!
