Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Kawbe you told us once before how to figure out what the gearing is in a rearend? I am going to a friends house to pick up a rearend and can't remember what you said.

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Well it aint nothing to it but to do it.
Quote:
If the rearend does not have the tag on it and you want to know the exact gear ratio you can open it up and the ring gear should have a number stamped on it and it looks like this 41:12. That means the ring gear has 41 teeth and the pinion has 12. Divide the number of ring gear teeth by the number of pinion gear teeth. That will give you the exact gear ratio. For example, the ring gear has 41 teeth, and the pinion has 12. Divide 41 by 12 for a gear ratio of 3:42. Last edited by Kabwe; 01-22-2011 at 11:46 PM. |

That's the only way I could continue with my projects. Finding free stuff and bartering with the things I do have.

How did you come across a free rear end? Only thing I get for free is a hard time.

This is why I wanted to set up another category called "Pay It Forward". I would love to donate items to people who could use them. Sorry to hijack your thread.

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Here is the boring stuff I've been working on but you guys love pics so I thought I'd post. I had to add some round stock to the front of the door to get it right. I think it will look decent once I grind down the welds and make it flow on the edge. Man the door fitment on these things leaves much to be desired.

I'm going to post a few pics of the Chevelle, not to much going on with it right now. I'm saving for paint. I know, I have been a stranger around here lately.
