Unfortunately if you do not agree with the value they have given your truck, it is up to you as the owner to prove how much it is worth. This is why I mentioned getting a professional appraiser to give a value on the truck. It might even be worth asking the progressive adjuster who they recommend for an appraisal, this way they can not dispute this particular appraiser.

I can not stress it enough, if the adjuster does not budge, provide the documentation to his/her manager, advise them they are acting in bad faith and if they do not handle this properly you will be forced to file a complaint with Maryland Insurance Administration for them ignoring your documentation for the value of the truck.

Here is a link to file a complaint:

http://www.mdinsurance.state.md.us/s...eComplaint.jsp

Also where are they getting the salvage bid of $600? Have they provided you with the documentation showing which junk yard/dismantler is willing to give $600? Typically the salvage value is between 15-20% of the value of the truck.
I have put these kind of things in my Appeal submited yesterday. Bad Faith and the Insurance Comm...I may ask again about where they come up with $600.00 on the Salavage, after I get the response back about the Appeal.

Re: My truck took a hit

Finally Good news!!! My appeal came back with postive results with Progressive Ins Co. My truck is not being Total and I'm getting the full value of my damages, I pickup the check yesterday! They are also leaving the door open for any other damages. They came back with a value of $6000.00 for my truck, they stated they had under valued my truck and were sorry for the problems it caused. Thnaks to all for making me do my Homework here! I would suggest to keep all of your receipts for anything you put into your truck, take pictures so you will have the before pictures. Don't park on the street, try to get your Insurance up to date with full coverage of value. Again thanks. Now starting to get my truck fix's... TJ

Re: My truck took a hit

Glad to read that TJ. Glad to have it back on track.
Are you doing the work?
If not, who is and do they have a clear understanding of what it is they're fixing?
Did you find out how long it's gonna take to repair?
Are you going to have done piece by piece or all at once?

And you'll be taking pics of the progress to show everyone here..........Right?

If you don't have anyone let me know and I'll put you in touch with one of the best on the East Coast. He's in Gainsville, VA. and he's worth every penny and worth the drive.

Re: My truck took a hit

Glad to hear it worked out for you. Did you sign a release of liability? If not you can ask them for loss of use or a rental while the trucks in the shop also.

Re: My truck took a hit

Great to hear you got a fair settlement!

I'd try to get better coverage on the truck. If you can't get collectors insurance, see if you can at least get full coverage. We'd hate to see this happen to you again

Re: My truck took a hit

yeah wow, i'm on page four and that's making me think twice about leaving my tahoe going in the parking lot of my daughter's daycare when i go to drop her off/pick her up. but fortunately where i live the auto theft is low, but having the stuff stolen out of your vehicles is common. so far it sounds like he's getting everything taken care of. and great to hear that you are getting everything set right on your end man. way to go

Re: My truck took a hit

I remember seeing that picture of the accident on here a few months ago - I'm glad you were able to "save" it. So many times these days, the insurance company's don't do enough for the "classic vehicles" when they are hit. It looks real nice from the back - pull it out of the carport and take some more pictures of the hole paint job for us.
