I would have to say you have to many pieces there. I would lose the c channel piece and bolt it directly to the frame.

I could be wrong, but I think the red c-channels are representing the frame. So his plan is to bolt the green part directly to the frame.

The Red part is bolting to the frame on top and bottom inside the stock frame rails. The reason i did it this way is because my buddy has one without the green pieces. So in order to pull the tranny, we had to "shimmy" (beat on it with a hammer and 2x4) the crossmember back out of the way which sucked while under a bagged truck and trying to support the trans at the same time.

So i made mine to where you can unbolt the green mounts and drop the crossmember strait down and leave the red pieces bolted in place. Seems easier in my head...

does this make sense to anyone else??

Nice brother! On the crossmember, you don't have to have the plates as big. That way you won't have to shimmy it out. For example, look at my porterbuilt one, It only has two bolt holes on each side. It is about 2 inches where it bolts. This way you could also run your lines easier. Not saying your idea isn't good. I just think it could be simpler and still function.

Damn, that crossmember is way simpler than mine. How easy is the install?

Couldnt find that X-member on nates site, but from the others im guessing it was around 75 bucks?

On a side note...I have my bridge setup with around 8" of notch. I think i read on your thread that you have a total of 7 3/4 notch? My question is that i set mine up to lay stock frame, but your z'd and have a 2x4'd frame. Is my notch too big?

i want just enough to lay frame, so my bed floor is as low as possible.

how tall are your tires?

I think you can make it simpler, but jus boxing that area & eliminating tha bolt in idea..you can cut tha mounting plates...drill them out..bolt them to tha boxing plate...weld tha bolts to tha boxing plate & weld tha plate to tha frame..

That is a good idea, however im trying to do a complete bolt on (no welding to frame) because i have already powdercoated my frame

my notch will be 8.25". I have a 29" (i think) tire height. I think my front tire height is 26-1/4".(i'll double check)
Laying frame.. Your going to have a tough time. The only pic of mine with mine layed out, the truck has 2.5" z, 3" dropspindles, and slam specialties 7 bags with cups (which are thick) My frame barley hit (Pretty much had to bounce it) So... I'm estimating another 1-1/2" with the porterbuilt lowers, so with my about 1" cut out (I did 2x5, stock frame is about 6"-6-3/8" where the awful bend is), mine should lay out still. im hoping.. The frame only hangs 1-1/4" below the pinch as it is. so mine should be about 1/4" off the ground layed out....

Check out how this crossmember is.. Simple to build. I like it. obliviously still bolts in.

ok, that makes sense... my notch is 8" but my tires are 31". i know i cant "lay frame", but im notching so in the future i might be able too. my stock front xmember is going to be my lowest point. im planning on a PB dropmember someday so i want my back to be ready for that day.

id like it if it still rolled when layed out just in case something happens with my air system and i lose pressure. (wont leave me stranded)

Yea, im regretting the powder already. That wouldve made my c-ntoch, crossmembers, front bags, and all the other bs WAY easier. btu at the time i was just doing a static drop so i figured "why not"

it looks good so far tho keep up the good work..... by the way since my 73 is not body dropped its just bagged i can let all the air out and still drive it on level roads the only thing i can't do is turn i have to raise it up but i kind of like that just in case some thing happens.....
