Nice touch on those panels! I'm sure that was quite a bit of taping
Console looks nice too! Good job!

Double the value of beater by making it a shop truck!
Cost of mod: around $20* *Must already be skilled and cunning in the art of redneckery! http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=333485

If somebody spray paints the door of your beater -don't let it get you down - I got you. I got you!

Re: Post your best budget mods! ($50 or less)
I was cheap on mine, used red standard lights instead of LEDs and some chrome spray Nothing really much to it, I just took the metal bezel out and painted the whole thing on both sides or the colored lights won't show up as good.

Re: Post your best budget mods! ($50 or less)
My favorite so far has got to be the door panels. For $10 vinyl paint and $15 material they came up like new with only a days work. Even have enough material to cover my bench seat so once done I will include that in the $50 budget.

Re: Post your best budget mods! ($50 or less)
Get a HEI distributor advance curve kit...change it to the lightest springs in the kit and get a 1977 corvette vacuum advance unit.
These 2 will cost about $35 and will gain use about 15 horsepower out of your smallblock with about 30 minutes to put them in...and you will feel the difference it will make..Under $50 If you have a factory posi rear end and it is chattering while driving at low speeds..you simply need to find an empty parking lot..and do 4 figure "8's" with the wheel lock to lock..2 to the left and 2 to the right.. This will scuff the clutches in the posi and work fresh gear oil into them..problem will be gone..and best of all its free...no money needed.. |

Re: Post your best budget mods! ($50 or less)
i bought LED replacement bulbs for the dome lights in my 72 burb c20 ($10 each) but glad to hear LED's for the instrument cluster are available on ebay.
i went with CPP sway bars, but if you have a 2wd, the 1-1/4 sway bar from an 80's 1 ton or camper special chevy/gm 2wd is the perfect upgrade for the 1-1/8 bar available on our trucks (grab the frame brackets if you don't even have a front bar). should be able to get poly bushings pretty cheap too. as for my burb, spent big money on a 4 core radiator and all new mounting hardware, but the 7 blade fan from my dad's 72 burb (w/ air) was free as he'd had it up in the attic for over 20 years and the radiator overflow bottle was a universal never-installed unit found in the attic as well. hung it on the driver side of the rad support with a stainless screw and put a tiny black bungee cord (big assorted bungee package from walmart) around it to keep it stationary. nice not to have to fill up the radiator every time i drive it. |
