Re: Farmers big block
Truck looks bad ass! I am starting to do my bed. I am sending out to blast today. My inner bed rails are bad also. I removed them with a spot weld cutter. Is there any advice when welding in the new ones?

Re: Farmers big block
There! I'm all caught up with your thread again.
Seeing you in person; I wasn't quickly connecting your username with your build thread. You're the guy doing the Honda Pilot Paintjob the same color as my wife's Honda Pilot. Your truck is one of favorites in these forums. It was nice meeting you today. -Robert Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Farmers big block
I haven't looked at your entire thread, but from the last few pages I am impressed!
The color choice will look awesome when completed...or right now for that matter! It seems that every project gets re-configured a bit on it's way to completion, but that is what keeps everything interesting. Keep up the superior workmanship! |

Re: Farmers big block
The truck looks great! I love the gold/tan/pewter/etc shades of color on these trucks (not that I'm biased!). Great work!
You never explained why you had to have the truck repainted the second time??? Redoing one of these trucks can take a lot of perseverance and patience. Keep it up! |

Re: Farmers big block
Man, you're doing some nice work on that truck!!
Don't get discouraged about the "one step forward, two steps back" routine. It's the way things seem to go at certain points of the build. Stay on target, and don't let it get you down. I know, it sucks. I've been there many times before, and I completely understand your frustration. It' s expensive and labor-intensive. Sometimes, you've got to take a break for a few days and clear your head. I'm the type of guy who'll put 110% effort into everything, and it really bugs me when I have to undo something I spent so many hours trying to make perfect. Remember this: Whenever you go to a show and see a car or truck that looks like the attention to detail is lacking, it's because that builder hit the "one step forward, two steps back" scenario and decided that it's "good enough as it is, keep on bolting things together". The results are always glaringly obvious.

OFTOrange
I assembled the truck after the first paint job and the panels didn't match in color. He painted the panels seperately and on different days . So he repainted the truck assembled on the same day. It looks good know. |

Re: Farmers big block
Update 8/1/2012
I got the heater box and the hydro brake assy mounted and started installing the steering column. I had to step away from the truck for the last two weeks because the property next to mine came up for sale. I had to buy it because one I don't want neighbor's that close and two it has a great barn that I can put more old trucks in. I have been clearing the land so I can start farming it. I have to get back on the truck because it has to go to the upholster the end of next month. Time to get to work Last edited by 66farmer; 08-03-2012 at 09:30 AM. |

Re: Farmers big block
Can I get some info on what radiator you're using? I'm doing a big block swap and want to ensure that thing stays really cool. Build looks great so far man.

Re: Farmers big block
Ok I'm back again (I think I have said that a time or two). I took 2 1/2 months off to repair a barn and clear some land for farming.
In the last few days I was able to get some work done on the '66. Modifide a Buddy Bucket set to fit...and altered the seat backs so they would tilt forward. Had the windshield (clear) and rear glass (bronze) installed. Tomorrow I'm dropping off the seats, visors and steering wheel to start the upholstery process. |

Re: Farmers big block
Had some air brush work done on the truck.
I put the chevrolet on the tail gate so it would look like the emblem I mounted on the glove box. (Could someone tell me what the emblem is off of) The art work on the steps is to give a little respect to the man (my wifes dad)that worked this truck from day one. He was a hell of a fisherman. And the 454 Big Block on the gate is for you guys that pull up behind me (PASS ME IF YOU CAN) |

Quote:
DC-541A 210 & 150 "CHEVROLET" script (13") on hood, trunk and side - chrome. DC-541B Same as DC-541A except 15" The script on the tailgate resembles: BA-225 (1953-54) "Chevrolet" on dashboard. (((( I just got one of these and its in the mail )))) Looks really top notch. Can't wait to see it in the shows collecting trophys. |

Re: Farmers big block
Wow, I really like that tailgate, very cool. The glove box door looks like 57 Chevy 150, and 210 models dash chrome or hood and trunk chrome molding That is a very nice piece you've got there.
