Re: Project 67
Easy to swap them back to red stripe out. Seems a comment was on the 71 GMC "Why white letters out" then. So I went with my better judgement on these.

If I stay with med gold...Is this gold metal flake too much for that bumper? Or should should I stay with the Argent Silver?

Re: Project 67
Pulled the string on a matching pair of C-57's for the rear..7-10 days shipped. They had them in stock in the warehouse. Was worried they would be no longer available at the rate this project was going. After horror stories about months of waiting I called the company. Only two sellers I could find on line n one on EBay. E-Bay never has the chrome but the black chrome. Anyway for reference for anyone after my research if anyone is interested. 801-356-2929 is what I used, the other is 303-297-2697. You do the search n you come up with some wild stuff..hope this helps someone else...

Re: Project 67
Dropped off the front bumper for blasting and powder coating today. Also the new set of hood hinges. Here are what they look like before being done. LMC wanted $185 for a chrome bumper. Picked this bumper from a fellow board member for $30. It will run $75 to have it blasted and powder coated. $25 for the hood hinges. Bumper and the hinge set will be coated in Metallic Grey with a top coat of deep clear to shine like a baby's A$$. Will post pics when I get them back.

Re: Project 67
Welding a patch panel around the latch might be a little tricky, what i have done a few times fixing doors, was to take a flat washer, place it on a socket that is the same outside diameter, then put a punch in the hole and whack it a few times... This gives the washer the nice concave shape, then weld that in place of the holes which were broken out.
This is much faster and stronger type of fix, lot less welding and easy to clean the welds up for a flush finnish. Just an option for ya. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Project 67
Thanks for the insight on the door repair. Very much appreciated. I have a repair patch on hand waiting on a relative to use his plasma cutter for removal of the affected area on the door. Being the driver's side it would be constantly visual to me.
The shop that is doing the powder coating locally has a huge oven that is capable of powder coating items 25 to 35 feet in length and 20 feet high. Which is his main clients bridge "I" beams and such. Very impressive to see his operation. Now wishing I just had my frame coated by him. While I was there a guy picked up a huge smoker that was finished designed to smoke two hogs at a time on a trailer that was made from a 500 gal propane tank. The bill on the smoker was only $700. Which I thought was very reasonable.
