Here is the consequence of too much work and not enough clean up!

Re: 1990 Chevrolet Sport forever project
I decided to wrap up all the stuff under the truck while I had it jacked up 2 feet. Here is some exhaust pics. I reused one of the bends and the mufflers, this is all pretty temporary cause the big block but still tried to make it nice.

Re: 1990 Chevrolet Sport forever project
I didnt show this one, I got a bear tracker bump steer kit. It only allowed about 1 inch of end link correction. I needed a good bit more than that to get the tie rod end level at ride height. I cut the bear piece in half and welded a sleve to it to extend the end link.

Re: 1990 Chevrolet Sport forever project
I drove her a bit last week and things went pretty well. Need to work out a few bugs. I'm going to redo the steering box, pitman arm, ect. try to lessen the size of the tie rod end link.

Re: 1990 Chevrolet Sport forever project
I was trying to get it going pretty quick so I came up with a few things that were somewhat temporary. One is the radiator support, I kinda like the start of it I think i'll just add to it for the shroud.

Re: 1990 Chevrolet Sport forever project
It had abs on the rear brakes. I had to get rid of all that and put an adjustable proportioning valve in. The brakes performed great, wish I had the big brakes on the front though. Now that I have more time, i'm going to do the hydroboost now. I actually took the booster and old master cylinder off today to get a feel for what it is going to take.

Re: 1990 Chevrolet Sport forever project
Nice job so far.Matt; As for the steering is it just the arms are too close together and are binding or are you having trouble with the steering period. If its the steering only I know they have new special steering boxes that have better turning radiuses and faster too. Anyway just trying to help.

I've weighed what to do about it and all the options. Looks like a raised pitman arm will gain me an inch or more. I may raise the steering box up a bit too. It's going to take several different things to gain the correct angle of the tie rod end to correct bump steer. I was looking at a rack and pinion pretty hard but it requires lower pressure and the hydroboost likes the higher pressure. Plus the rack and pinion is made for much lighter cars. I am getting a new gear box and pitman arm. We'll see how much that does then decide if I need to raise the whole steering box or not. I will still need some length on the tie rod end but I need to minimize that as much as possible.

Re: 1990 Chevrolet Sport forever project
Thanks man, I'm loving it too. The pics just dont quite do it justice. I'm hating that it's back on jack stands though. Hopefully i'll get a few things worked out in the next couple weeks and be back on the road.

Re: 1990 Chevrolet Sport forever project
Thanks man.
So i'm redoing all the steering to address the biggest problem which is bump steer. The second biggest problem is the steering gear box ratio. It's pretty sloppy feeling with the high stock ratio. It doesnt really do the new suspension any justice.

Re: 1990 Chevrolet Sport forever project
Thanks man. There are no problems with the batteries, they are a sealed glass mat design. They can be mounted in any direction without any problems.
