Re: Green trucks

Here's my 1972 stepside 4 x 4. The color is 518 Medium Green. I have thought of changing the color over the years (I'm the original owner), but if I did no one would recognize me around town.

Re: Green trucks

ok. All this green stuff is makin my head spin - and I thought I knew my greens very well.... rpatowers, thx for posting the name of the color. Not all are labeled, so I want to ask a question about 72 greens. As we're all aware, the "brochure" name is different than the "SPID" name of the color - kinda like Hugger=Red Orange, etc.

With the help of some previous posts and a very helpful color sheet for 72 from TimSS, here's what I THINK I know:

504 = Med Olive Poly = Willow Green
505 = Dark Green = Glenwood Green
506 = Dark Olive Poly = Spruce Green
518 = Medium Green = Meadow Green

So, is any of the above incorrect? And am I misisng one of the greens? Were there 5 in 72? For example, if you look at rpatowers' medium truck - that is what I always understood medium green to look like. Med olive, dark olive, and dark green all stand out as easily discernable also. BUT, what green (paint code/SPID name/brochure name) is THIS green: (or is it a non-stock green?) To me, it kinda looks like the old neptune green from the AD trucks... maybe not drak enough though. Thoughts?

Re: Green trucks

My junior year of High School (1990) I restored this '70 C10. I traded a TH400 for the truck body (it came to me without an engine). Wish I still had this truck and the others I fixed and sold over the years…

I actually had two trucks in HS. I still have the yellow '68 GMC (it had a '67 front clip on it back then). Took every thing I learned about body work on the C10 then painted the GMC for a second time in 1993 which is the paint the GMC it still wears today.

Wish I had a better picture of how it turned out after I painted it

Sold the C10 in the morning and bought a ’72 K5 that afternoon. Same color too! Man, that was a long time ago! I think it was 1992??

Two different shades of green. Stella is going into hibernation for the winter. Booger and I have some things to get done in the garage.

My 2 green '72s put away for winter (along with the 2 '67 Mustangs). K5 is medium olive, the C20 dark olive.

Here is my entry. Sputley looks rough, but she's actually in solid condition. The only rust is the surface rust you see. Those campers really preserve a truck cab. I thought I would post her because in a week or so she won't be green. I'm starting my build as soon as I get back from Indiana.

Oh, you mean the green fenders on the truck, not the ones laying on the frame?
