nice i thik im going to do this crossmember drop, anyways will it allow you to lay rocker if so how much would i have to cut for it to lay rocker I was thinking a 2 inch like you guys and this is for my 67

It should lay rocker on a truck. I had mine set up and my frame sat completely on the ground. The trucks body sit lower then the frame. So you would lay Rocker. Also depends on what size tire you run on how much to cut!

Ok Phantom, let me make sure I'm with you here. I see what you have done, but let me check why it was done. Were the acces holes need because the tubular A-arms mount different, or because the crossmember is up higher, and in the way now. Or is it all of the above...

fastbagged68 how low are you arms off the ground when the frame is sitting on the ground. and also you said i would be able to lay rocker right then how low does the body hang from the frame about 2 inches i would think right. in other words once the rockers hit how low will the frame be off the gound

Chevy 68- If I remember right I believe my arms and crossmember are about an 1 inch off the ground when layed out! I have a suburban so my bosy does not hang over the frame as much as a standard 63-72 chevy does. But I dont beleive you would have to get the frame to sit on the ground to have the body. But I could be wrong. You probably need the frame with in a 1/2 inch of the ground to lay it out.

Yes the holes had to be made in the frame because the crossmember was moved up. You do not want to bolt to the frame as it would flex to much. This way all the stress is on the crossmember as it was factory. Tubular arms are lighter?? I bought them cause they looked cool. I beleive they may give you a little more clearance also??

Just got a box of a bunch of parts for my truck. Bill talked me into the do it yourself kit for the crossmember. I was a little worried when i opened up the boxes he sent, but seeing all of the "semi-finished" photos make things look like something reasonable to do. I got his upper and lower arms, a rack kit and the "do it yourself" crossmember kit. Looks like i'll be cutting and welding this weekend. I'm going to try to take some pics along the way so that bill can use them to build some sort of instructions.

When i did my step notch...he was the only one that i could find that had a kit that had the right bends for the frame. Thats what made me start with him, but he's quite the bull****ter and I like to buy from people. "people buy from people". Bill seems to know what he's doing. My only concern that i can see so far is my hood hinges. Allthough Bill says he's in the process of fabbing up a reverse flip kit.....we'll see.

so how much does turner charge for a 2" dropped crossmember, control arms and steering rack?

$350 for a crossmember plus $100 core. Control arms run around $700 for uppers and lowers and the steering rack for him to set up your member is probably free if you let him know when you order it. I am running a manual rack and paid $190 for it from Flaming river. I also have all the mentioned parts.

Looking good Phantom. I got all my pieces welded up and have the crossmember installed "test fitting". As soon as I get my Lower control arms I will be able to set it back on the ground and see if it will be low enough for me. If it is, then it all comes apart to be painted.

Im at the same point here. I want to get it all bolted up and see if everything is going to jive with each other. I ran into the mistake of powdercoating the frame THEN majorly changing my plans. Also I am going to set the cab on and and set the motor in to see if it clears. I dont want any suprises.

well, got my lower arms yesterday and bolted things up. Had to do some pretty nice cutting on fenders to clear the tires. Also had to take out the heater box. Need to get a few different air fittings and more line and put air in the bags (re-doing the plumbing) so I can set her on the ground. I think it will lay frame on 20's though.
