Re: Squarebody SPID Picture Thread
I would agree, but the more rural dealerships always had a few farmers who wanted simplicity and the least expensive truck they could find. My Dad usually bought base model trucks until he grew older. When I found my current truck, I knew I had to have it. A V8, column shift is just fun to drive with tons of low end torque.

How does everything else look on the SPID? Accurate? Is it a high hump floor? K

Re: Squarebody SPID Picture Thread
I see a lot of folks are getting ones with changes made, but do you just make copies of one that are worn/faded?

everything else on the SPID is 100% whats on the truck, every option on it is in the truck. it was orig a gov forest service truck, other than holes drilled all over it for radio's and water tanks, it looked un-molested till i got it... and the floor is the non-removable high hump. shifter is on the column. just wondering, should the t-case be listed on there too? again, far as i can tell it looks like the factory 205 to me, does'nt look swapped at all. does the fact it went to Canada to be sold make any diff? |

Re: Squarebody SPID Picture Thread
I just accidently bought this 1978 Big Ten. I thought it was just a plain old c10 until I got home and found a copy of the spid in the paperwork in the glove box (the sticker was missing). The guy I bought it from told me that the cab was the only original body part. Everything else he had replaced from the LMC catalog: hood, inner and outer front fenders, doors, bed sides, tailgate, front and rear bumpers and brackets, door handles, mirrors and the entire interior. He also eliminated the Scotsdale trim and added the Custom Deluxe to the fenders. Everything but the cab was replaced. Interior is all LMC. The good news is that all the parts are new. The bad news is that all the parts are new and do not fit right. All of the frame and running gear is original. Has number matching 350 v8 that has been rebuilt. Truck runs and drives like a new (1978) truck. I did not buy the truck to be a show truck. I bought it to just use as a truck and drive around town. I was fully aware of all the fit and finish problems when I bought the truck but was pleasantly surprised when I found the spid and found out it was a Big Ten. I also get a kick out of telling everybody that it has a LS9 engine.

Re: Squarebody SPID Picture Thread
Well - a spare tire is optional, so it could have been built without a spare.

Re: Squarebody SPID Picture Thread
Yes.
X = front Y = rear Z = spare then the two character portion references the specific tire option. That way the buyer could mix and match different tires as he saw fit. K
