Don't want to hijack the thread but I like the Vornado in your avatar Hubscrub. I have one as well and I'm in the process of painting it like a P-51 engine shroud.

...still pretty hardcore, though, you must admit....

We stepped into the garage to leave, and she said "we're taking my car aren't we, it has heated seats". I said "my houndstooth covers are warm". Believe it or not, she got in.
Come to think of it, I have two vehicles of my own with heated seats, and I still drive the Longhorn.

Re: You Know You're a Hardcore Chevy/GMC Truck Fanatic When:
you're hardcore when you use your '67 GMC to tow the '91 Camry from Texas to Oregon with the family in the GMC and the dog in the Camry. Stopping once in awhile to make sure the dog's ok of course.

You know you're hardcore when you start thinking about tearing down something that already works
as well as it ever will. And, especially if you plan whatever you're about to screw up based upon how many small parts it has. Because you miss seeing the UPS Man in your driveway after five years of his daily visits.

When you save old rusted parts and frozen bolts because they belonged to your truck.

When you work a part time job for 5 years, to erect a pole barn, so the wife can have her garage back for the winter.
When we're on the road, the wife points out old trucks before I see them. |

When you have more money into paying for storage/shop space than you have into your truck.
I have been paying for storage or shop space in one way or another since 1998 for a 1967 Chevy CST project that I bought for $600.

Re: You Know You're a Hardcore Chevy/GMC Truck Fanatic When:
I have spare bedrooms dedicated to parts storage - two different locations.
Also, had my master bedroom stacked with parts while rebuilding my Blazer, it was closer to the garage. Getting married helped with the sickness, but come to find out, she is afflicted too... Thank God!

Re: You Know You're a Hardcore Chevy/GMC Truck Fanatic When:
How bout making sure you bring your good parts in the house so they are safe.
Using a small grain bin as parts storage instead of using for feed. Also picked up a parts truck while at girlfriends class reunion, glad I went after that. Finding fathers old 72 trucks(still trying to buy them) Buying newer trucks so when they rust out you can use the drivetrain in a 67-72 |
