Re: '50 3600 re-do. Shortening things up!

The sway bar is 4” too long. Thinking about shortening it. I’ve heard both sides of those for and against it but figure I may as well give it a shot. Here’s a couple of vids that seem promising:

https://youtu.be/ECiJB3CtLyc

https://youtube.com/watch?v=ZCUF-LfxYLo&feature=share

When I had the 1/2 ton IFS in it previously, I had the crossmember and center link shortened. The link was sleeved using a similar process.

Re: '50 3600 re-do. Shortening things up!

Found the correct length sway bay, 39.5". I had the option but declined ordering the complete kit which included the installation components because I already had the ones from the other bar and as luck would have it , the heim joints are different sizes...sigh.

Nice job snaking that intake tube around some pretty confined spaces!

Getting the firewall smoothed out & trying to decide where to run the wires. Thinking about using the hole on the passenger side below the hinge bolt.

It does look good. What master cylinder is that?

I don't recall, but I bought it on Ebay a few years back. Gotta replace the booster though. I stripped a couple of the bolts mounting it back up.

One thing I don't like about the LSFAB firewall inserts is that they're cut exactly the same so the drivers side doesn't match up very well.

I like the cold air intake idea. I assume it's a kit? Where did you get it from? Thx.

No, it was trial & error but I pieced it together with assorted components from Amazon & EBay plus a few odds & ends I had laying around.

1. 90 deg elbow
2. 45 deg coupler
3. 4" coupler
4. Spectre Air Box
5. 4" air filter Adaptor

Re: '50 3600 re-do. Shortening things up!

I find myself going back to fix stuff I did the 1st time around. I had a "just get it done by what ever means necessary" mentality then. One of those things was hiding the louvers on to give the truck a smooth appearance. I really had no tools, no knowledge on what or how to do it so I took a hammer and beat them down, then filled it in with bondo. (DON'T JUDGE ME!! LOL!) I bought a new set of cowls to do it right, or to the best of my ability this time. Gonna cut out out the louvers and weld in a patch.

Re: '50 3600 re-do. Shortening things up!

Progress has slowed dramatically but I’m still chipping away at it. Revisited the door handles & decided to go with the 52-59 push button with the Altman latches. Still figuring it out as I go.

I got mine from some junk doors after a lot of looking. Good luck finding some.

Medium density fiberboard. You can find it in just about any hardware store or Home Depot type store. If there is a woodworking store near you, you might be able to buy smaller pieces.

Re: '50 3600 re-do. Shortening things up!

Still working on the doors & cowl panels. The drivers door works perfectly, the passenger side...not so much. still need to fine tune it a bit as it takes a fair amount of force to depress the button. Also looks as though there's no way to unlock the doors with the key if it was locked from the inside?? As luck would have it, I found one of the door handle plates I was looking for.
