Re: 67 GMC super custom build
So I used a different reflector back with my t3 headlights and wow what a difference. These now have a very noticeable beam pattern cut off on low beam and high beam. Truck is 6 feet away from the cardboard and not 100% adjusted. I looked into the retrobright bulbs but I did not like the look of the plastic lenses. All my newer vehicles have yellowed. Here's a Picture with the low beams and 1 with fog and low beams. Lighting Pictures never show up well for some reason but here's the best my phone will do.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Looks decent from here!
Ya know my 2012 silverado headlamps have always been a little high. I get flashed a lot without the high beams even being on. I finally got the manual out to see about how to adjust them (I couldn’t figure out how on my own). The manual says to call your dealer. Omg! Seriously!?! So I had them adjust them. Made me appreciate how awesome these old pickups are.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Yeah these trucks were made for service in the field need be. Modern vehicle mechanic repairs need to be hauled into the shop for a lot of things. That takes the fun out of them.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Next on my list was my horns. They weren't working so I took them apart and cleaned them up. Now they work as they should. I'll have to get them painted yet. I may see if there is anyone who makes the stock style rivits so you can't tell they were opened.

Got my hood hinges back from willie Today. The look nice. An original phosphate look with silver springs for detail and all the rivets were replaced.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Did u ask for same coating as mine cause mine were all the dark color. Mine been on 7/8 years now and still work like new. If the back of your hood along the cowl is popping up and wont stay down send your hinges to Willie.

Dangit! I wish I had sent my hinges to Willie. If only I'd known.
...all looking good. I know you're not asking, but I vote for white cab only. It's gonna look sick no matter what....but that looks real cool to me.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
It's still definitely possible. I change daily. I have committed to black with red interior. Just not sure where the white fits in. I definitely won't do the 67 style white. It willbe the full roof .

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Well wheni restored all of my ac/heater boxes I pretty much just replaced them with pieces that had alrebeen restored or aftermarket except the heater core housing. Mine was really in rough shape so I repaired it and painted it. As I pre fit everything in my dash I couldn't stand the look of it compared to the natural plastic pieces everywhere else. So today I got another one and polished it out for a natural look. It will look Much better. 1st picture is a before after just cleaning and the 2nd after using a plastic polish. Plus if it gets marked up by feet after I can just polish it back out. I also restored an original working relay as well.

That looks nice. Feels like a new side hustle. You could be the Willie Wilson of those. I'd send you stuff.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
So I was thinking about the threads in the fiberglass. They sure weren't holding strong I thought there was something metal behind them with threadbut nope. So I drilled the holes out that hold the relay and mount the ac flapper box and put aluminum rivit nuts in them from behind so you cant tell they are there. Now they are metal and hold tight.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I got the pieces riveted back on my ac housing. One thing I am curious about why my 67 housing has 2 of these vent doors on the bottom and the 71 housing I painted only has 1?

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Got my bumper brackets back and a few other odds and ends from my metal guy. Now the bumper brackets will clear the foglights nicely and the brackets totally looks stock.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Well I didn't do much picture worthy this weekend. I did a whole bunch of wiring in the engine bay and forward light harness. I did wire the headlight washers so they only pump when the headlights are on. I bought a headlight relay kit from a 67 rs camaro and I am using it for my trucks lights. It will be tucked under the driver fender just as they did it on the camaros. So my next few things will be running the hoses and clamps for the headlight washers and hoses and I thi k I am going to add a power antenna to the passenger fender. Every luxury car had a power antenna from the 60s. I think I have it figured out.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Cool. I always thought those were a neat feature. It was nice to move them up/down to get stations tuned in. I liked the one on my Caddy.
You can get masts for them if needed. How are you going to control it?

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
With a switch at the dash. I don't think you can wire up the radios from the 60s to make it go up and down with radio function. I am going to add a relay so that it always retracts when the key is turned off if it is up.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
The Cadillac radios operated it by pulling or pushing the volume knob. Not sure what the other GMs did.
Either way, cool mod

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
My radio is a 1970 cadillac wonderbar radio and it has no way to move the antenna. I got the antenna cleaned and all the old hard grease cleaned up and the antenna works great. I am going to put a new mast on it because the original has some pitting on it where the past owner left it. Now I'm waiting for the fender bezel in the mail. Ince it comes I cansee if it will fit the fender the way I see it in my head.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I just read up on 1970 cadillacs and in that year they used a antenna in the windshield. That might explain why my 1970 radio does not control the antenna.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Here's a line for ironcanine. Once this antenna is finished I am done doing mods. For real. Metal work will start after it's done. There are 2 things I really wanted to add but I won't be doing. 1 is the short bed tool box. This one is completely do-able but I'd have to mess around with the fiberglass box and the body mouldings. I do have confidence that I could remedy these but I do want to drive this truck someday and the time/money it would take to do this I have come to feel would not be worth it. And # 2 comfortron. Even though they do make a hvac control panel that directly fits in cosmetically I've studied this over many occasions and it's too complicated to work it into our hvac system. So hopefully the parts come in the next 2 weeks to mount this antenna and then it will be off to final metal and in the new year. My head hurts thinking how to work all these cadillac options into this truck. Maby next year I'll complete this build. We'll see how fast this goes thru bodywork. I'm sure it won't be as fast as I like lol.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
So here's what I'm thinking. This will be tight but I think it will work providing the bezel I have coming from a different year cadillac fits the contour of the fender in the area I have to work with. The one in the picture isn't steep enough. Before I can go further I'll need to get it in my hands. I will also have to indent slightlythe fresh air box panel on the cab where the tube goes down. The motor should be underneath it. I'll attempt this on a rustedfender 1st.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
When I was rebuilding my horns I bought the other 2 horns needed to make this a 4 note set up. I mounted the trumpet horn on the hood latch support directly behind the center bar of the grille. You can barely notice that its there from the outside. The other I'll find a place for in the engine bay.
