Its coming along fine, thanks for asking. I finished the dash, smooth the cowl, and rear of the cab. Now if I can just stop making changes I could put her back together. Also I think I'm going make a engine change. I think I'm going to build a 383 stroker and back it with a 700r4.

I thought you were going with the 5.3L?
Are you looking for more power? You know that you'll be able to cruise better with the 4L60e which has over drive and all the latest technology.

Re: 58 GMC Project

I've followed this for a while, needless to say when I saw the classic truck issue with your truck on the front I got so excited the people on the isle would have thought I owned the truck. I finally have my project lined out. And As funny as it is (by chance) I am building a 55 chevy looking truck using a 58 GMC cab. I will soon start a thread for mine when I get a few more things lined out.

Anyway like many have said thanks for letting everyone on this message board be a part of this truck.

Re: 58 GMC Project

Having my truck in Classis Trucks was by far the coolist thing that has come out of my build along with sharing it with everyone here! I checked out your build and you might upset some of the four lighter GMC guys, but I like the idea of a single lighted Chevy front clip on a 58 GMC cab.......I wonder why that is? LOL.

Re: 58 GMC Project

I thought it was funny how that particular combination came about again. That GMC dash makes a good space for all of those camaro gauges though!

I'm glade to here it still inspirers guys to keep plugging away on their projects!! I remember there were time in my build that I thought it would never get finished and then I would read someone else’s thread and that helped me to keep on turning my wrenches and finish it up. So keep on plugging away and turning those wrenches and you’ll be cruising around your home town.

Hey !!! Have you guys considered signing up as members of http://www.mypowerblock.com/

Once they learn about all of the attention and awards your truck has brought< I wouldn't be surprised if they invited you to bring the truck on the show.

It would be cool to see pictures of the truck with Courtney.

Check this. http://www.mypowerblock.com/group/ontheset

Re: 58 GMC Project

What a thread!! I lost track of how long it took for me to get through this entire thread but...it was well worth it. That is such a nice ride. There are a few trucks in the Tri-five body that turn my head and this is probably #1. Going through the garage I found some truck magazines 11 years old (and older) that I saved all these years. I've been looking at them off and on for the last few days and I would have to say that from what I've paid attention to, your truck has set the standard for my personal tastes and every truck of this bodystyle will be compared to it. I'm HOPING to build a 67/68 someday and just reading your thread has accelerated my knowledge of what it'll take to get to where I want to be. Although you're afraid to scratch it, don't be afraid to ENJOY it. There are a lot of folks that would like to be in your shoes and you seem to be a genuinely kind, humble and friendly person. Keep that up. Yeah, take it to the shows but every now and then take it to the park or just out for a little cruise. You never know who you've inspired to build one. Kids young and old alike will appreciate what that truck means and could mean if they had one of their own. I think that's what makes part of this truck so special to the rest of us. It's been a pleasure reading, watching, learning and laughing along the way of this thread. It was an experience in itself. If you ever get the itch to bring 'er out to GoodGuys Fort Worth (TX), I'll be sure to bring a towel so I don't drool over the paint. I've caught the last two shows since being stationed out here and I have to say...Texas LOVES their trucks!! Haha. Later Cal.
