Thats going to be one hell of drive and with gas prices the way they are you would have paid for the paint job by the time you get here.

My experiance is if you get a sponser they are cool with what ever the color is as long as it is from there line. They usually want other things from you like certain shows, sema thing like that.

LOL....well it was an idea, not saying it was a good one but it was one.....WELL anyway here is a little update

Hey there, coming from a guy that does not have much, i work my tail off to pay for debt and support my family, things in the end have a way of working themselves out, trust me. I still build some nice rides for ppl, but because i live way up in tim buk two, i can never get sponsorship for anything, even thou i have built 150 thousand dollar cars, Heck i can not even afford to paint or finish HAVOC for that matter. it kills me, But in the end just driving her the way whe is, makes it all worth it in the end. It is on the inside that counts!!! I would give anything to be able to go to the large shows that all of you have in the states, i have worked with some very big names in the industry, ans still can not get mine painted. I need roughly 8 grand to finish he the way i want. gonna be a while unless I sell a Kidney....... hey wait, someone looking for one, 32 years young and heatly, hehe. anyways. it will be all good, just continue working at it and go frome there, still enjoy every minute of it and know that you are doing a great job on your truck, and be proud of that fact, knowing that YOU did it!!! not all of us are born with luck or a silverspoon, but in the end does it really matter???

WELL SAID... last night i decided to work on something i can do that wont cost much and needs done so here is the story , a couple of years ago a customer of mine was trading in a truck, he is a motorcycle rider and is sponsored by Kicker, well the truck he is trading in has a complete Kicker system in it, this is a good customer i have sold several vehicles to and he says hey you can have it all for your truck my sponsor will give me new stuff for my new truck !!!! so it has been setting in my closet in boxes for the last couple years last night i got it out and started building a box , it will be molded to the back of the cab and the front completely fiberglassed and painted to match .....anyway here is the pics of my FREE STUFF !!

i have a set of rockford 4 inch speakers and a set of alpine 3x6 i think ?? i might end up needing some more mid range stuff we will see , the sub amp is 850x2 and the mid range amp is 650x4, i got all of the kicker wiring and fuse blocks to go with it all. Tonight i am going to build the stands to space the speakers out of the front of the box and start the fleece backing for the fiberglass

if i read the specs right it is about .917 and i think i have like .8 something ???? i dont know much about the tech side of stereo stuff so i hope this will work ok ?? if you know more please let me know

my wife came out in the garage last night and said "what are you doing" of course i replied building a box for my truck , to which she replied " dont you think your to old for that "........hmmmmm , am i ??? maybe i should have said ....if its to loud you are too old !!! but i didnt ,i just said probably, but its gonna ROCK !!! cant wait for some AC/DC to be rocking out of it !!

Man, you're NEVER too old to have a good sounding stereo system!

I'm no audio pro, but I've built a fair share of boxes. If the volume for 1 sub is .9, then you'll need 1.8 for both, but you also have to consider the volume that the sub itself is taking up by being in the box. From the looks of your set up, you probably don't have enough volume and that's going to negatively effect the sound quality.

the sub itself is not going to be in the box very much they will mount out the front i just dont have the mounts built yet , that will be tonight

Mike,it looks like that box is only big enough for one of those subs.If I looked it up rt. you have 10" l7's & the minimum space for those is 1cube ea..I just took some measurements 63"x20.5"x6"/.75=1.5cu.ft. & thats not including sub vol. Maybe you should put 1 in the middle w/the amps on either side?It would look cool w/ the buddy buckets.Btw the12volt.com has good volume calculators Mac

you hit it right on the head that is almost my exact dimensions !! would one with more than enough air space sound better than 2 with not enough air space ?? as i said before i know next to nothing about this kind of stuff

Mike, they just wont play to their full potental. Having a smaller box than is required can also effect power handling, although I dont see how it would hurt what you have going right now. Just be sure to set your gains on the amps corectly so the signal they get is not clipping or distorted.... too much power is not the main cause of blown subs, a distorted signal is.

On a side note, those subs play much louder in a ported box, although you can run then sealed. I had 2 12 inch L7s when they first came out, and they were stupid loud. I only had about 500 watts going to each sub, and it would hit so hard it shook EVERYTHING. This was in highschool, and I had some girls name my car for me after that install. They called it "Good Vibrations" lol

Since they were free, I would definately run them. However now that I am older, Kicker is not always my first choice in subs. They are loud, just not as clean a sound compared to some sound quality subs. Then again, for my 67, I usually just listen to the pipes rumble unless Im going on a long trip. When Im doing that, the compents in my doors and 6x9s under my seats are just enough to make the Alpine in my dash sound plenty good.

Most of us need the seat back as far as it will go & still feel cramped a ported box is just not gonna fit, maybe w/ one ported!

Porting a box CORRECTLY is a very complicated assigment, and I would stay away from it given what you say your experience is in this area. The idea of running just 1 sub is probably your best bet in this situation. I don't think you're going to need both of them anyways as 1 should be more than enough.

I've only built 1 box that was too small since I was working with not enough room. It was about half of the space required by the sub. I hated the way it sounded...it was muffled and quiet. I only waited about 2 weeks before building another that was the proper size and it made the biggest difference without changing any other components. The bass was cleaner and tighter, and most of all, louder.
