Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
got the windows tinted yesterday. 5% all around. gettin my windshield replaced next week and im gonna do the strip on the top. i had my sun visor in, so it seems darker that it really is. i dont have an a/c compressor yet, so i had to drive 7 miles through town with the windows up, it was 90 outside...
with all you intelligent guys on here, you think i can buf my paint and get some gloss, is there some kind of special compound for it? or should i just get it painted, remember, im ghetto cheap! |

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
you could buff out the red paint with rubbing compound and a machine and get a nice result and a deeper red but one day in the sun and its back the way it was .
red isnt a verry strong colour pigment wize

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
spaseghost, I'm digging the tailgate decal. How much did it cost you for the tint? I'm wanting to get mine done, but would like a ballpark cost.
Thanks Benjamin.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
It's amazing what a little bit of elbow grease can do. There was a lot of oxidization on the truck, especially on the hood and top of the cab. With a LOT of compound and some water it took everything off but the rust.

As for the shine. I got a pretty good shine out of mine. All I did was buy a cheap buffer and a tub of regular compound. Apply the compound as heavy as you want. Then once it dries get a spray bottle of water and spray the water on it while you buff it. Basically you are wet sanding it, just not a abrasive as it would be with actual sand paper. Once your done then put a coat of wax on it. For the money it comes out pretty good in my opinion. Plus if you’re cheap like me you can take the buffer back once you’re done. |

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
cant be too certain, was dropeed when i got the truck, from what i see, its nothing but a 2 inch drop shackle in the back, and then the rest is melted springs, it has a horrible ride since the frame is sitting on the rearend, im going to replace it all soon with a 4/6 kit though

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
scootin81c20 - the sticker is for my mother in law, she survived it thank god. the tint cost me $130, the guy owed me some favors so i got a deal. he guarantees it and the seams are flawless!
78bo - i think im gonna do that first before i get it painted, i can still see clear coat where the emblems and trim used to be. oh, and i love mr2's, if you need tuning help let me know. im a sucker for those yamaha built 3sgte's... orange77 - no, 5% isnt legal, 27 % is. there also isnt emissions here either, ITS GRRRREAT! i have 20 on the wife's mustang and equinox and no problems yet, knock on wood. i dont drive like a dick hole, all the time, so no reason to pull me over!! texasfunk - dude, im a sucker for the rally wheels... i was gonna put my dad's on from his frist gen camaro but they obviously dont fit. are they stock or aftermarket? how wide in the rear? i have 275's with some ugly ass AR wheels and i HATE them. i want 305's or wider in the rear but figure i need at least 10 wide for those |

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
Thanks, I'm wanting to get mine tinted 5% on the rear and sides done in 35%. Sounds like I need to find a deal.
Thanks Benjamin.
