Re: My 1966 chevy c10 (under construction)
Just guessing, but I imagine Tony was glad that it wasn't a 66, but a 97 instead.
Anyway, I like the drop on the 97. Got any more plans for it? And, of course, we're all hoping ya get started back on the 66 again soon. |

Re: My 1966 chevy c10 (under construction)
Well, let me set this straight. This is in response to previous posts in this thread regarding Ford unibodies in the 60's.
In 1961, Ford introduced a new styled truck, also know as the unibody, and continued this design up through 1963. In 1964, Ford cut the bed away from the cab again, due to complaints concerning how shifting weight in the bed could cause fatigue with the unibody sheetmetal. 1964 was a real transition year, as it was the only year in which Ford produced the 60's style trucks with a separate bed AND with the old school nostalgic 292 y-block engines running with a 9" rear end. In 1965 through 1966, Ford kept the same body style, but completed revamped the drivetrain, moving into the FE arena, with revolutionary modern style engines, trannies, and differentials. Also, up until 1965, Ford had implemented I-beam straight axles in their trucks. 1965 to 1996 saw the double I-beam design. 1966 was the last of the "slick 60's" years. I own a 1964 F100, that's why I know. Last edited by Reyals Bemus; 03-17-2008 at 02:02 AM. |

Re: My 1966 chevy c10 (under construction)
Congrats on the nice Blue Oval, but we need to get you to come over from the dark-side and into a Bow Tie. In any case nice truck.

Re: My 1966 chevy c10 (under construction)
Don't worry; got a '65 C10 right here that a friend and I are working on bringing back to life.
Currently fabbing up new cab mounts and floor panels; the old ones were rusted out beyond belief. It still needs an exhaust setup, bench seat, some wiring, etc.. A 350 was dropped in but it's still got the original 3spd tranny. Last edited by Reyals Bemus; 03-17-2008 at 03:57 AM. |
