Re: Newbie with a new build thread

I have also done some work on the door. If you notice, the raised part where the door latch was is now flat. when its all done, the door jambs will be nice and smooth...

Re: Newbie with a new build thread

man this build is awesome my daily driver is a 69 chevy and i just aquired a free 69 chevy that i plan to completly overhaul and customize like crazy i have learned a lot from this build.

that dash looks amazing. i was planning on "z"ing my frame too my question if you dont mind was how did you figure your measurments or did you just eyeball it and hope it worked. this will be my first zing tons of lowering just no framework like that before any info would be awesome.

by the way id be glad to take that 48/51 project off your hands hahaha

also when you get to doing the bodywork some advice if you care for any is get some dry guidecoat some people spray spray paint on there it does the same but that guide coat is amazing for helping you find you highs and lows in your bodywork.

Re: Newbie with a new build thread

I installed the shift arm into the column and apparently a spring or something is missing to put pressure on the lever to keep it in gear, otherwise it is free to move from park to drive or wherever. This column is a little different from the other one I have so I can't compare it. Anyone have any ideas. I will post more pictures if needed. Please help on this one.

Mine is the same way, but there could very well be something missing out of mine too. I can't wait to see some pics of that dash in primer!!!

Re: Newbie with a new build thread

I actually went out into the shop today and got some work done on the dash. The servers went down at work so I actually got to come home on time. Keep in mind as you look at these pictures that I still have a ton of grinding, hammering, sanding, trimming, welding and im sure some more to do on this dash.

I also took some whatever pictures for the heck of it.

Man I am going to have my work cut out for me when it comes time for the bodywork. This truck is beat all kinds of up....

Re: Newbie with a new build thread

That dash is too cool. Are you gonna shave all the trim off or keep it

Re: Newbie with a new build thread

Thanks, My plans are to keep all the original trim, however, if I cant make it work, I will just shave it or come up with some other trim. Edsel parts are not readily available.

Re: Newbie with a new build thread

I picked up some brand new inner fenders along with a new radiator support today. I can't wait to get this truck rolling. As soon as my income taxes are in, I am going to purchase some new shoes for it. I think Intro is the only way for me. They are just plain nice. I just wish they were a little cheaper though. oh well.

Re: Newbie with a new build thread

Ok guys, I have a lot of problems with my truck now all coming from when I decided to cut my fram in half. I should have done a little more research before I did that. Nothing seems to want to work for me. Somewhere during the cutting something got off and now the fenders, core support and such do not line up with the cab. Looks like I did not lower the front frame horns enough to make it all happen. I also have some major cutting to do on the inner fenders and a little to trim on the core support to clear the steering box. Here are some pictures of the bad dicision.

Re: Newbie with a new build thread

68chev68, i z'd the frame on my truck 3"s and it did get complicated, but it all worked out fine .on mine , we mocked up the front clip (with out the fenderwells) to get everything lined up before the front frame horns were welded back on . as for the fenderwell the will need some trimming .check my build thread in my sig .it might help . pm me i you have questions. mike
