well crap
today all we done was bolt the driveshaft up and made a huggee dent in the cowl..
so thats going to have to be taken back to the shop and body work and painted whenever we paint the bed.
its nothing big..but its not progress
im starting to get tired of this truck because everything we get or do dosent fit or is wrong..
but i know when its done it will be worth it.

Keep pluggin away at it...you're doing a great job. I told my son while working on his corvette that some days he would hate that car because progress seams to go so slow, but keep that end product in mind, it will be worth it.

today we dident work much but we did manage to get some lights for the turn signal indicators and high beam indicator.
headers still dident come..maybe tomorrow or wensday
so much for starting it before the end of the year
tomorrow i am getting at it hard and putting the steering colum back together and put that in then maybe dad will make the frame to mount the seats.

went down to the shop today to work on the bed sides some more and we got some dents poped out of one and the other one is ready to be primered again..


It looks like this side is full of bondo..but its not..its just a thinn layer

ok...well we decided to shift our focous from the bed to the front fenders and hood..so they got sandblasted today and there is not alot of work to do to them so maybe we can have them painted by next week then start on the bed again.

i love the sight of sheet metal and bondo, particularly the sanded straight variety.

it looks like you guys are using a DA and a straight line sander? how's that workin' for ya?

yeah i no i put them pictures on here and i was like dang i love the look of sheetmetal..but its got a longg ways to go
but yup thats wat were using...it works really good for knockin the bondo off which is why we call it the "bondo buster" then we get the DA and sand away till its smooth. then primer and do it again till its ready for paint..it takes foreverrr but its worth it

well today we got some of the hard wiring done..well not really






and heres the damage we have done so far.. i know it can be touched up and i better get used to it scense its going to be a DD but i hate to look at it.

the headers finally came!
so we got them bolted up and they look and fit great!
and uhh thats it for today
dad got the materal to make the frame for the seats, its going to be similer to the ones rokcrln did..hope u dont mind us using ur idea
so we got the brackets in and done all the measuements and drew it up on autocad. the new seat is about 4 inches shorter on each side than the orignal bench seat...i guss that means more leg room.

well we started getting low on our parts bench so we took a ride up the road and got the back bumper, door seals, and a wiper switch, now my pockets are empty after paying for the headers then that
so when we got back i got the last ac line hooked up then put the glovebox back in and the lock, then i put the panel in to see how it fits and i guss it works but its deffentley not worth the money because all it is is a peice of plastic.
then we started to mess with the windows but dident feel like it
so we went to the shop and started welding the holes in on the drivers side front fender and got some mud on it.
and thats about it
uhm maybe we will break i mean put in the windows tomorrow and maybe the carpet scence the majorty of the wiring is done in the cab

dident get much done today
we went down to the shop and started doing all the modifactions to the stuff the goes to the windows.
my dad got sidetracked for a couple of hours by neibors coming over and talkin to him.
so i gave up on the windows and put some bondo on the fenders and got one ready to prime, then i got the bedsides pretty much ready to prime but there still kinda wavy.
couple of hours later we came home and he got sidetracked once again so i guss it's up to me to mess with the windows. so i cut the bracket out where the vent window would have been, then i put the window regulators in then the track that goes in the back of the door and thats about it.
we could of had the windows in today but i was by my self.

when you left the shop, there was more done then when you walked in.

in my twisted little mind...thats progress.

Hey bud, i read your entire thread, and everything looks top notch. I am certainly not a expert, but you are doing your build in great time. All my past projects have taken a long time to build, but i daily drove my past projects.

I have a quick question for you... Where dod you pick up the parts for the 2/4 drop? And was it a complete "kit" or did you have to order piece by piece.

naa i went out there for a few minuts and got aggrivated and came back in
then dad went out there and put a few more chips in the paint and banged a drill bit up agnist it, but its a small dent so oh well
by the time he gets done with it there wont be any paint left.
i just went back out there and put some tape around everywhere he would be messing with.but as long as it gets touched up i dont really care

I put my truck completely together in primer and made sure everything was going to fit... I marked all the shims and then blew it back apart before paint... In doing this I eliminated any unnecessary paint chips.... If you can do this with any area of the truck you have not painted yet do it!! I give you alot of credit for accepting the fact you can just touch up the chips.. I personally would have lost it already if I would have put those chips in it!! You are a patient man!!!

oh trust me if i had the time to put everything on a test fit it i would but it should actully be done by now.
and everytime i look at the chips in the paint i cringe and want to haha
but anyways were about to go take the doors off and drill all the holes for the windows so maybe we will get them in today without chipping it.

it dident get done today because we were debating weather to take the doors off or just try to leave them on.
it mite take longer than a day to put them in because all the stuff you have to cut, drill, mark, punch, all that good stuff. The book says it takes about 3 to 4 hours for each door so that means it would take 2 or 3 days for us

still stuck on the windows...had to grind the check link of the top door hinge a little bit so it wouldent hit the window when closing the door.
all the measurments in the instructions are wrong so we have to measure eveything and cut it alittle bit at a time....i think it would have been better just to spend the extra money and but new vent windows

Just read all 6 pages. It looks AMAZING! It may not be going as fast as you'd like, but in reality, few people who build up these trucks have actually had a project that went on their original time schedule. I'll be happy if I have paint by the end of this coming summer. Im drivin in primer right now. I actually had a friend at the parts store tell me not to paint it because he "liked primered rigs. They look sweet". I told him to primer his if he liked them that well and he changed his mind a little bit. Keep up the great work and keep your patience. Your doing an awesome job.
