Re: 1964 Suburban Pics
I'm still working on cleaning up the airride. I was planning on slamming this out, but as it usually goes I come up with some ideas and have to see them thru. I work with all types of electrical equipment at work and it gave me a cool idea to help make this system nicer.
The first pic is a couple electrical items. There is a buss and 2 ground bars. You can get this stuff at Home Depot. The ground bars are Square D. I mounted all this underneath the truck so I can neatly route my switch legs to the valves. It also allows me to take it apart with out messing with all the 'control' side of the system. The other pics are the items mounted and the switches terminated on the buss. I still have to put in my other 2 valve assemblies and then ground out the valves in the bars on the side of the frame. I wouldn't use this stuff on a vehicle driven daily or in crappy weather....but this truck isnt. Check it!!!

Ugh, that is absolutly hideous! You should just park that ugly beast in my backyard and forget about it. Be sure to leave the keys in it though

Here's a pic of the valves wired up....ready to go as soon as I plumb the rear bags and button some stuff down. The junction block and ground bars worked really well. You can see the ground bar on the drivers side rail with the valve grounds lugged in the top. I used the mount bolt to ground the tailights and the air compressor; ditto for the other side.

Re: 1964 Suburban Pics
Thanx man! Yeah, a little bit better and not a bad August IMO. It's been around 80* in the morning and peaking at 100* give or take a bit. I know it sounds hot, but it's a relief from what was going on. I think anything feels cool after being on tile roofs all day.

Re: 1964 Suburban Pics
the wiring looks good. But one thing I would change if you can is the pressure switch from the bottom of the tanks to the top if you can. you just dont want any water in the tank to mess it up. Maybe get a bung and weld it to the tank so you can move it. Do you have a draincock?

If I mounted the tank with that port on top there was not enough clearance for the switch. I'm not welding on it 'cuz its aluminum.

Re: 1964 Suburban Pics
maybe you could get someone to do it for you. It would be well worth it in the long run, the bungs dont cost much, and I'm sure getting it welded would only be like $20-30.
I thought we wouldn't ever get water in ours in Iraq either but we always had to drain the tanks because of it. I was just commenting because I saw a thread from Viar stating that, and the tank needs to be tilted towards the draincock.

Re: 1964 Suburban Pics
It bugs me that you brought this up.....I was laying under there thinking about this stuff and should have done it. I think I will probably move it to the side. The tank has 4 ports on the ends and I used the ones that lined up for the compressors the best. I will pick whatever side looks like it will work with the wiring and put it there. I appreciate the heads up....

Just trying to give some meds for the headach you would have later down the road. It's amazing how much we learn every day on these sites.

Re: 1964 Suburban Pics
Small update: moved the pressure switch to the side of the tank and it was a breeze. No pics, but now ruffrida can sleep at nite.
Worked on another creation for my truck as the juices are flowing now. I have an air gauge to add and a trans temp gauge that I havent installed. I thought I mite as well get both of them in there right now. Started with some exhaust reducers to fit the gauges and a piece of angle iron I found somewhere. Got all the pieces roughed out and will tack them together at a later date. I will match them to the tach with some chrome paint, which I just saw my buddy use and couldnt tell where it was. Here are the pics.....
