Hi from Germany after a long time...
..need some help: Has anybody detailed pictures about how to install the VintageAir GenII-Kit in a Chevy Truck as mine??? I have a sure fit kit, but donīt know where to place the 3 holding brackets exactly....i have the vintageair installation papers but i donīt get it with this handdrawed pictures They write to fix the right holding bracket to kick panel on the existing OEM bolt in the top right corner -- which of the bolts do the mean?? Also i donīt get it - how or better where i have to place the front holding bracket (dash-side). It tells to fix one screw instead of the left OEM glove box hinge bolt..the other one should be fixed in the middle of the dash. I tried as i understand but i donīt get the second screw nearly the hole in the middle of the dash.......damn - i guess itīs quite simple and iīm angry about myself that iīm donīt get it. My Vintage Air pics did not look like those you have.
I placed the rear evap. bracket on the evap. and raised it into the location in back of the glove box and had someone mark the hole on the firewall where the bracket hit the firewall. Make sure there is enough room for the defrost hoses and wind/sh. wiper arms there will be some of the evap showing under the dash when it is high enough. When you leval the evap. make sure it is "tilted" a bit to the right to drain the condensate from the bottom hose fitting. With that in place you can remove and attach the bracket on the right side and mark where you need to drill another hole for the bracket. Best to do this before paint so you can weld a stud to the firewall to make the install easier AFTER paint. The front bracket will bolt to the lip on the glovebox lower edge

It can really be mounted anyway you want. I even made one of my own brackets to attach to my (custom) lower dash panel. The OE stud they are refering to is the bolt for the hood hindge. The other bracket shown in the diagram I just welded a stud to the backside of the firewall. Pay close attention to the areas that Solid Axel mentioned.

need some help: Do you know a company selling LS1- in Cab - gas tanks? I would like to keep the oem-place for my tank (in the Cab behind the seat) because of the situation that iīve already placed my airride stuff behind the rear axle. Or has anybody seen a LS1-powered truck with inside placed gas tank and can give me informations what i have to customise. Hi Robin,
if your gas tank is in decent condition, why don`t you keep it ? Just use the appropriate fuel pump and fittings to make it fit your tank. And if you stay without a return line, that should be it. I am more than happy to give you more infos in german

I saw it done once in a magazine. Don't weld on a used tank, just buy a new one. Then you will just have to add the flange for the right sending unit and all the fittings. Atleast thats what the article showed. I'll see if I can remember where I saw it. If you are good with a TIG welder you should be able to modify a tank to work just as easy as people make a fuel cell except you have something to work with.
I've actually been thinking of doing this myself. |

you can weld on a used tank but you need to have it steamcleaned and run an inert gas inside while welding on it , i have heared of a guy that funneled his exaust in the tank during welding driving of the oxygen needed to make an explosive mixture

maibe you can use an inline pump with the return t- ed in front of the inlet of the pump , if you can you dont need to customize the tank at all

a little preassemble-update: -Attached the radio to the roof -Attached the Parking-Brake-Pedal -Fixed the e-cowl-vent under the dash and placed the switch for it inside the ashtray... Actual itīs very cold in my garage (1°C) and it isnīt funny to work there. :-/ The next step is recustomizing the firewall to get a little bit more clearance to the engine.
