Re: Where are the stockers?
This is mine as I bought it in May 2005....
.... complete with "long-range" fuel tank! Here she is in August 2006, doing duty as back-up truck at our Harley club's rally... And it's staying pretty much that way too, just had the rusty bits replaced with new metal, seat re-upholstered as can be seen in the slideshow here; http://s75.photobucket.com/albums/i3...t=aef656e3.pbw This truck still works part-time, hauling firewood, trash, Harleys, and anything else that I need moving. That's what it was built for, and I like to see old vehicles (and railway locos) doing what they were made to do, not sitting in a museum as dead as a dinosaur skeleton.

Re: Where are the stockers?
^ that big guy is a 63- check the fender emblems- The big trucks used the same grille 62-63, I found this out, I was hoping to find a 63 style big truck grille, then discovered the 2 years were the same on the big ones.

Re: Where are the stockers?
Yeah I learned them when I worked for golden state, then when I was looking for some cowl panels without emblem holes... seems most of the trucks in the yard were 62, or 65.
I so wanted a cool looking big truck 63 grille, since the 456 one is neat I thought the 63 would be special.... |

Re: Where are the stockers?
My daughter picked this 1960 GMC 910 up in the summer and is working like mad on it so I would consider it a stocker until she swaps out the 3spd and puts in a Turbo 350(with the adaptor kit). Her last car she built was a 58 Pontiac Pathfinder(Canadian model on Chevy chassis) and it ended up sold in Winnipeg Canada. Her boyfriend is a motorhead as well so they spend lots of time together...

Re: Where are the stockers?
The only custom touches on mine are fiberglass cowl hood, rear roll pan, filled filler neck, cab seams, and replaced tailgate chains with latches inside the bed, color, wheels, and interior. The drivetrain, frame, and majority of body are stock. The only reason for these changes were to add custom touches, clean up some body lines, and fill the void for parts that couldn't be found. As far as a hood goes mine was rusted out and there's a company nearby that makes fiberglass parts and their only stock 62-66 hood is a pin-on. But besides that, I just wanted to make it a good looking, comfortable show truck and classic cruiser.

Re: Where are the stockers?
Just picked it up this week. Has a 292 straight 6 with few options and thats the way shes going back. Interior has a hack job at the radio but other than that she is straight, and all original.

Re: Where are the stockers?
February 19th, 2009 1965 Chevrolet Truck - C-10 Series 1500 (1/2 ton) Model C1504 translates to: long wheel base(127 inches), 1/2 ton Stepside with 8 foot bed. It is not all 1965, but it is mostly Chevrolet... she's a Frankenstein of many year models, if only I had known... This is my online photo album at google, which contains photos of machining projects, my 1965 c10 lwb stepside and some old tools: http://picasaweb.google.com/woogeroo This is the website for my 1965 c10, the content of which is 90 percent images of the projects and headaches I've run into while wrenching on it: http://matraca.home.mindspring.com As always, try to remember, old trucks are fun! -W |
