so, after calling around the bone yards. i found out that the 98 tank is a one year only run and is steel. the 98-02 tanks are plastic.

how low does the tank hang tommy?

here is some more info on the tank.

excuse the crappy cell phone pics, my camera crapped out

I had to trim about 1/2" on the bottom frame rail on both sides for the tank to fit. The straps I used were off some where around an 02 model escort. I used 5/16" rod ends to hold the straps on one end, so they could pivot if needed to drop the tank later. The other end is bolted to the rear crossmember. The tank hangs 8 1/4" below the frame at the lowest point.

Here is the stuff I used to glue the roof skin with. Since I had the roof skin off, I covered the top of the inner panel with a product similar to dynamat called b-quiet.

I know you had mentioned headers(in another thread) and was wondering if you had gotten them yet.

Just curious because mine is in limbo at the moment but I'm still trying to get ideas/parts together for it.

The headers are on back order. I ordered them in january, not sure what is taking them so long.

That was an awesome idea putting the insulation between the top roof panel and the inner panel.

I hope it makes a difference. I plan to use the same stuff on the firewall, floorpans, back of the cab, and maybe inside the doors. When I drove the truck before, it was nearly impossible to carry on a conversation at 55mph.

I test fitted my seats, and took my first imaginary test drive since the start of the build

The seats are from an 04' silverado. I had modify the brackets on the center section and drill all new mounting holes. I will prolly use 3/8" bolts to secure them.

Amazing Job so Far. I am starting my first frame up of a 65 1/2 lwb and I have been waking up every morning between 3-4 am thinking/ stressing about it. Now I feel Like I have somewhat of a roadmap and I feel excited again!

I will be doing a much simpler Chevy 350/ TH 400/ stock rear end set up because I am NOT ready for a wiring loom like that! Im so impressed!

Very excited to see what happens. Cheers!

I was stressed in the beginning, because for some reason I thought I could do this build in less than 18 months. Now I am rolling up on almost 2.5 years, with at least another year to completion. If we all had a chip foose crew it would be too easy

I have seats just like that for mine but I can't use them. Not enough legroom to be comfortable on a long drive. I really bummed.

I purchased some fittings from Doc's Blocks, for the A/C compressor. These allow room to hook up the hoses without notching the frame.

Finally got my headers in! they been on back order since first week of january. They are Doug Thorley made for the 67-72 LSX swap. They fit the 66 frame great. They recommend using the CPP motor mount perch, but I used the origional mount with adapter plates and they couldnt fit any better. Plenty of room and they dont hang below the frame.
