Re: Gene's shorty 4x4 conversion
Very nice!
Where did you pick up your trim? Mine was pretty rough, so I painted it. Looked good off the truck, but I dont like it installed. |

Re: Gene's shorty 4x4 conversion
To pound it Off Road or to not pound it Off Road....That is the question. With a truck that nice, I don't know that I could bring myself to leave the pavement. Plans???

Re: Gene's shorty 4x4 conversion
I plan on driving the truck as much as I can, I will show it some, but I never meant it to be a show truck. I have never been this deep into a restoration, I can see how it can drive a guy crazy. Right now i'm just waiting to finish up a few things, I gotta get some different rams horns, the ones I have are 2wd and then I can get my exhaust ran. Basically thats it other than installing my AC but thats on hold too because i'm broke as a joke! So to answer your question, no, I dont ever see this truck leaving the road lol!

Good decision. It's way too nice and you've worked way too hard to take any chances with it! I only asked to see if you have a psycodic streak lol.

Re: Gene's shorty 4x4 conversion
I agree with the previous post's Gene. I would have a hard time taking that beauty off road too. The truck will never be the same if you do so. It will have that little bit of extra play in the steering that was not there before or a little rattle while driving that will remind you of what you did. Other than that, it looks great! You are an inspiration to keep me going on mine!

Re: Gene's shorty 4x4 conversion
Not really, have to finish up my interior and add a heat/air unit. Been driving it some, but i'm hearing some rocker noise that i'm trying to identify. Thinking it's a bad rocker(roller tipped rockers) or a stuck lifter.

Re: Gene's shorty 4x4 conversion
Thanks a lot guys, I really enjoyed the build, maybe that's why I'm holding off on the few little things I have left. I really enjoy driving this truck, get nothing but thumbs up every time I take it out.

Re: Gene's shorty 4x4 conversion
I have put it in one show and got first in the 4wd class, dont think i'll venture as far as Arizona though! Finally got my interior finished and all I lack on the truck is heat/air unit. I drove it to work today cause my 99 was out of gas, man 95 degree weather makes me wish this truck had A/C!
