Re: 3200 Napco 1/2 ton Conversion
Time for headers! We're going to put some in my friends 20ish footer cabin cruiser, the bulkheads are split on his also. Then we have to do the floor and interrior and probably paint the top deck while we're at it.

Vdog
Thanks for cool thoughts. Everyone is great. Mama is a little unhappy that the truck has not progressed more (gotta love her!!) But the boat thing kinda of got out of hand and sidetracked me. I just need to find the right guy/shop to rebuild the truck motor and then I will be back in bis. I promise to get back on it soon.!!! I did make some changes to the shop so should be able to pull her out and get back to work !!! Posted via Mobile Device

Re: 3200 Napco 1/2 ton Conversion
I got totally side tracked on this but my goal is to finish it by spring and then get back on the truck. I think I will be ready for something else by then. Been on this nights and weekends since the first part of this year. Ready to enjoy it and work less !!!!!

Re: 3200 Napco 1/2 ton Conversion
Ok so I am back on this deal after a short break !!! The block is at the machine shop and I drug the frame and cab home. My question is does the cab need a coat of undercoating before it goes back onto the frame ??? I like the idea of it being clean under there but wonder if the undercoating dampens the road noise ???

Re: 3200 Napco 1/2 ton Conversion
I undercoated mine because it will be used off road in all weather, also did the insides of the fenders and fleetside bed sides. When I got it it had been undercoated and it helped reduce the rust. Should help with sound and heat from exhaust, etc. but I noticed the biggest way to reduce it was with radiant barrier on inside floor. First time around I just used some 1/2" rigid fiberglass, this time will use some of the metallic bubble stuff from big box home store.

Apache
It was a stock chevy truck blue that I had them mix up from an original color chart. I was looking for a color that i had not seen yet (really wanted red !!!). Its been awhile since it was painted, I can try and get the exact color name. bb

OrrieG
Thanks for response. I went out and looked at the bottom side again and I thought they had primered and painted the underside but not the case. Wednesday I will pick up some POR15 and get after it!!!! Once it gets mounted up, the insides will get the Dyanamat treatment.

Re: 3200 Napco 1/2 ton Conversion
I just used rattle can rubberized undercoating from the paint supply house. Sticks to everything but remains somewhat flexible so it doesn't crack. I think its a SEM or 3M product?? I am going to use a roll on bed liner from NAPA on the inside of the bed, it can be tinted to match the truck color. I used por-15 on a portion of the frame, springs and cab floor that had surface rust with oil based primer and rustoleum over that. The frame and springs then got Chassis Black single stage, three coats.

Re: 3200 Napco 1/2 ton Conversion
Ok now I am really confused..... Talked to a hot rodder friend and he said he uses POR 15 under his ride, talked to another guy today who said he uses a 3M product "underseal"??? on the underside of his body and inner fenderwells ???? Decisions decisions !!!

Re: 3200 Napco 1/2 ton Conversion
So I couldn't make up my mind which way to go with the bottom of the cab so I did both. POR15 on the metal followed by the underseal spray. Will most likely do the inside of the fender wells as well. Although its a truck, it doesn't really need to sound like riding in a tin can down to the beach to check the surf !!!!

Re: 3200 Napco 1/2 ton Conversion
Looks good but how come the center under floor brace is missing? I have always thought that was critical to keep the floor from buckling over time which could affect cab and door alignment.

OrrieG
You almost had me for a minute, started wondering if it was April or not ??? Lol, I wasn't really sure what you were saying because it was possible that they did not return piece that maybe should have been there ???? Check out this build http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...4&d=1413569672 His cab looks suspiciously similar to mine ??? The only thing I can imagine is that the support is in the opposite side where the seat mounts to the floor ???? Thanks for scaring the crap out of me...

Re: 3200 Napco 1/2 ton Conversion
OK, I went out and crawled under mine, no brace on the bottom either. The discoloration in the before shot got my interest. Sorry for the aggravation! Top brace provides the tension tie.
