I would love to do that. Maybe later. I think if I spend anymore money on it I'm going to have to change the title from "72 Suburban Build" to "The Bachelor Maker"...

Do you have a place to work on it in San Diego? Can't wait to see it in person.

Yes I do. I have a nice house with a 3 car garage off of Gopher Canyon in Vista.

Re: 72 Suburban Build

There is a pretty extensive street cruise up in Escondido weekly. It is a little far for me to go to being down here in east county but the Hot Rod Hauler guys go a lot. I have been having some driveshaft issues I need to work out but I might go this summer a couple of times.
Are you planning on driving the burban out or will it not be together in time?

Re: 72 Suburban Build

I hope so too. I left the top fill spot there for now just in case it doesn't work out. If it works, I'll cut it out and patch it up later. I probably would've finished it all but it was 110 degrees today with the heat index. I was struggling.

Re: 72 Suburban Build

I feel you brother. It was about the same here. Kind of hard to come home and jump back out in the heat. I own an auto detail business so me and the guys are out in the heat all day long.
Keep it up man.

Re: 72 Suburban Build

I used to go to it every week before i joined the Navy. I had a 70 Camaro. As far as the Burb goes, it WILL be together. Not sure if I'm going to drive it across or not. We'll see. By the way, I love the white letters out on your truck.

Finished the notch cover and got one of the fenders tacked up. Looking forward to finally getting my master cylinder/booster setup tomorrow.

Re: 72 Suburban Build

Not going to do anything with the body anytime soon. I'm going to get everything I have done and then drive the hell out of it for a couple years. My timeframe (going to sea soon) and budget won't support doing much to the body.

Re: 72 Suburban Build

This build is really going quick, Amazed that you are able to work, and keep up the pace on the build, while planning a move to S.D.!
Notch came out great, looks just about the way the factory would have designed it.

Thanks. I'll find out possibly on Monday, probably on Tuesday if I'll be moving to San Diego or up to Norfolk in September. I'm hoping for San Diego. To add to the pile, I'm also doing work on my house to get it ready to rent out. I don't do much these days but wrench. My golf game has been put on hold and I usually help out with the local high school as a wrestling coach but haven't done that in the last few months either.

Unfortunately, I'm getting to the part the we ALL HATE...wiring. I need to wire the air system, ignition, fuel system, radiator fans, and I moved the battery to the back so you can throw that on the list. I want to make it look clean and hidden for the most part too. I'm a little intimidated by all of it right now.

No ****! I had no worries whatsoever about hacking two huge sections of frame out when I put the notch in.

I don`t know, I`d be more scared if the wires were all the same color.

Re: 72 Suburban Build

Well not only was Scott's Hotrods 3.5 weeks late on getting me my stuff but when it finally got here they didn't even send all of the stuff I ordered. I had planned on having the brakes finished by the end of the weekend. So much for that. This makes 4 for 4 in companies not sending what I paid for. Never mind, Summit is the only place that has sent me what I ordered every time and on time.

Let me guess...I should receive them in 4 weeks even though you'll tell me 5 days and I'll open the box and there will only be a passenger side fender. If that's how you're going to operate, you'll fit right in. I'm just getting so frustrated man. This sh1t is getting old. I'm on a pretty tight time line and these people who I've given a pretty good chunk of money to are screwing me.
