Re: Barbwire Customs Project#1

As for the wheel search I am still thinking. Possibly the 18inch Boss 338 gray wheels for now since the Boss wheels are really cheap and so I can spend money on other things like the door panels an rear end rebuild. Although on the other side I could go ahead and buy the wheels I really like (Billet Speacialties - Roullet or Intro - Vrod) and drive it unfinished for the next year or so until I can get the funds to finish. Any ideas are welcome. At this rate I will do nothing for another year....haha Thanks again! |

Re: Barbwire Customs Project#1
Found me a late model rear and the gears seem to be in good shape! So now I have a wider rear and my back tires should be close to as wide as the front! The only question is will the gear ratio be to high? It shows to be 3.08 gear ratio but it should help when on the hwy since I have a turbo 400, right? Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Barbwire Customs Project#1
Thanks Jim! It's about time for another project for you, would look forward to seeing some more of your interior work!
Got the rear swapped...the old rear had a lot of slack in it, therefore I would guess it was old and worn out and This new one is a lot tighter! Just need to re-run break lines and swap breaks and we will be ready for a test drive. Posted via Mobile Device Last edited by zacthrasher; 04-16-2013 at 05:23 PM. Reason: Wrong picture |

Re: Barbwire Customs Project#1
I swapped axles in my C-10 from 3.73 to a 3.08 and really like it. Unless you are drag racing or putting in an OD tranny the shorter gears are great for cruising the hwy.

Re: Barbwire Customs Project#1
Alright everybody, I got the rear swapped and works great!!!! Took it around the block tonight and I will be happy, happy, happy! With these higher gears are not going to be tire squealers but that is not what I wanted. These gears really help out my turbo 400. At about 70mph I was running about 2600 rpms. This of course is a guess because I have not reprogrammed my speedometer yet. I would suggest 3.08 gears to anybody wanting a cruiser with a turbo 400.
Also this new rear set the wheels out on the back and it looks alot better. Last of all I have ordered my wheels and hope to have pics for you all in a couple of weeks! Until then here is some new pictures. |

Took the truck to work! Rode, drove and ran great! Just need a finished interior, door handles, pin striping, window tint for the hot days and maybe an inch lower all the way around! Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Barbwire Customs Project#1
It has been awhile since the last post but since the last post I have driven the truck about 700 miles, tinted the windows and lowered it a little more. Here is a few updated pics.
