i thought i would get some of my parts out and play with them a bit. it's tough having all this cool stuff just packed away, waiting to be put together. i just about have the frame stripped down. i just need to slide the rearend and arms out from underneath. i originally was going to just use a die grinder on the frame before i coated it with the kbs, but seeing all the angles, i think i'm going to go ahead and take it to the sandblasters.

i got the frame blasted today. my boss offered me to use one of the shop trucks. he also called it in to where we get our natural gas cylinders blaster, which helped out to get to the head of the line. they had it ready for me to pick up about 4 hrs later. i'm taking thursday off to paint it and put in the c notch.

right! lol but i did have my respirator on though. it's also fun to grind and weld in shorts and sandles, you should try it sometime.

Frame looks great Daniel, the feet not so much. It will wear off in a few weeks. Looks like assembly time now, just CLEAN work now.

that's cool, just hit me up sometime. i got it blasted at cote rite....they're on SE 15th just east of eastern on north side of the road. it cost $125. they charge $100 an hr, he said a frame usually takes just over an hour if it's a bare frame......no brake or fuel lines to tape off. that was the best $125 i ever spent. i almost started grinding it down with roloc pads, but i kept procrastinating because of the 100 + heat here recently.

You are exactly right Mike!! Thats how we do it where I work too. Production first, Quality second, and safety third. I say "safety first unless you're in a hurry"

i used some scotch brite and soap. i got most of it off. it's a relief getting it done. i wasn't looking forward to dealing with getting it to the blaster and back while working so many hrs. it all worked out nicely. your going to love it once you get yours blasted.

thanks! some tiny little bubbles/bumps showed up in it after it dried. i sprayed the kbs rust seal first, then a coat of black top finish. i may have put just a little too much thinner in to make it last, plus combined with the 95 degree heat. i'm just fine with it though. i'll be driving this truck to shows, but it's not going to be a show truck. i'll drive it more than my 09. i'm even considering selling my 09 when i get it done, but the gas mileage i get out of it will probably determine that.

slam re7 bags, front bag plates, and cab bushings came in from american pastimes. it was painful paying $50 for the plates knowing i can make them easily, but i literally have zero extra time.

Great parts! time for some clean building now. No more dirty stuff, well except the body work anyways.

i got started on putting the c notch in today. i see alot of complaints over getting the rivets out. i'm sure i'm not the only one doing it this way, but i thought i would post it incase it helps someone.
i grind 4 slots in the head with a cut off wheel. then i knock them off with a punch that i ground a wedge in. if it's still to difficult to knock off, it's wide open to zap it off with the cut off wheel. once there all knocked off, just beat it out with a 5 lb hammer. it'll still take some force to knock them out, i had to tip the frame on it's side to get enough swing to get the 2 on the bottom out. below are the rivets that hold the bump stop brackets, be sure to be more careful when cutting off frame rivets.

tomorrow i will mock up the lower control arm with the bag mounted to it and with the top plate mounted to the bag so i can mark my holes to drill for the top plate.

It looks like you have a hell of a project going, and a woman to help out? HELL YEAH! My original plan for my truck was to have it painted satin black, riding on some white walls, with the baby moon hubcaps on painted rallys. I wanted the "rat rod" look. Good luck with your build man.

The frame turned out great Daniel. I wish I would have known about that place, you got a real good price. I'm pretty sure I spent more than that on media and about eight hours on mine.
