Re: 1970 Longbed Build
Scored a bed and dropping it off at American Stripping Co. in Sac.
Need to find a flatbed trailer for the return trip. This is pretty backwoods. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: 1970 Longbed Build
I've made the decision to go with a more traditional build on this truck. I'm ditching the 20's and will be running 15x6's on the front with 225/75's, and 15x7's with 235/75's for the rear. I bought a set of '71 Impala hubcaps and may end up going with these.
Why you ask? I really want to put together the gentleman's pickup. So, I keep asking myself, if President Kennedy had a truck to drive to the hardware store in the late 60's, what would it look like? If Donald Draper from the Mad Men tv show had a truck, how would it look? I need to see these hubcaps with the bed on. But that's probably going to take a couple of weeks to get it back. 100% correct. The saying is "Everything has it's place, and there's a place for everything."
Like the tires/impala covers.

Re: 1970 Longbed Build
Thanks guys. I was afraid I was going to ruffle some feathers with these covers. But I'm thinking it's going to look pretty clean - a stocker longbed hammered down.

Re: 1970 Longbed Build
I like long beds. I think they look better, and are more functional. This whole short bed craze is just a fad IMHO. It's like girls and their hair. One year, short is in, so the sheep all go out and get short hairdos. Then, the next season long hair is in, and they're screwed lol. Mark my words. Sometime in the future, people will be modifying short beds into long, and telling tales of a barn find "original" long bed lol

Should have my bed back by Nov 10th or so. Waiting on some lugs before I can drive it again with 5x5 on the front now from 6 lug.

Re: 1970 Longbed Build
Picked up my bed from American Stripping Co. and it turned out great. They stripped and primed the inside and outside of the bed in a white sealer, and the entire underneath stripped and sprayed in dark gray. Pics later tonight.
I also snagged a '72 SWB frame on the trip up and am having them strip it. |
