Re: "Project S" - My boy Sam's '72 2wd Blazer -The Red Sled
Thanks to all. I've had some developments on the work front. Hopefully I may have a little more cash developing so I can start putting some money into this thing. Either way. I still love her.

It's going to look great with either front end. Keep on plugging away at it. Guess we won't be seeing it at Goodguys this year?

Re: "Project S" - My boy Sam's '72 2wd Blazer -The Red Sled
Ok, I envisioned a sliding ragtop a couple years ago and Rick at slidingragtops.com is gonna work with me to make it happen. But in my searches, I've finally found one similar to what I've pictured. (Or at least it's a full size Blazer-wrong year, but hey...I'm not complaining). So check out these pics and give me some feedback.
I like the look, but I am not a fan of the snaps. Mine will have full rails and will slide. (Maybe electronic like a car sunroof). It looked like a sweet Blazer!

Hey Jeff that clip swap will be worth it in the end, I love the 67-8 front end. Are you gonna do the grill white or orange?

Re: "Project S" - My boy Sam's '72 2wd Blazer -The Red Sled
Current plan is grille white. In fact, I plan on running the 67-68 trim that Mar-K just came out with that is specifically for the Blazer. Since the Blazer wasnt made until '69, the trim isn't available through all parts outlets, so it pricy... but very cool.
Of course, now that I've swapped the clip, I wish I'd just held out and painted it right with the base coat/ clear in the correct color, so more body work may be coming. The Blazer hasn't seen much action. I cant say I am losing interest. In fact, I kinda laugh at myself sometimes because I know what I want to buy for it, I just have to delay it for a bit. 2013 was an interesting year that I hope to forget soon. We truly had a stressful year. The economy cost me the 'Burb, but it taught me a lot. I changed our strategies and landed a couple additional contracts in addition to a new job altogether. I am probably at the best position I've been financially in a long time. I can see the light at the end of the economic downturn. So I'd love to dig into it more, but I still need to balance the hole I had dug myself from trying to build a new start up company in a s**t economy. Our business is really starting to grow and between NASCAR and a new construction client, we are looking at doing more business in January and February than we did in the entire year of 2013. Which is huge. And the new growth has us looking at a couple new buildings that average around 8x larger than our current office. So, here is "Project S" as it sits now. (well... currently covered up) The clip is on, and in primer. Still needs a little body work. I'd like to replace the fenders all together but a good body man could save them. I'll need a new bumper and a bunch of other odds and ends (which sucks because I had a brand new bumper, park lights, headlight bezels for the '72 clip) C'est la vie.

Re: "Project S" - My boy Sam's '72 2wd Blazer -The Red Sled
Ok... Feedback time. I have a shot at a set of used rims for a stupid low price. They aren't my first choice. (But I can't afford those). I thought I may pick them up to ride for summer. Anybody think they would look alright?
And, the Blazer has come out of winter hiding...

Re: "Project S" - My boy Sam's '72 2wd Blazer -The Red Sled
I personally don't think those wheels would fit the looks of your Blazer. I would leave the ralley's until you can save up for the wheels you want. You'd be wasting money buying wheels that you really don't want. Just my $.02.

I'm not loving those wheels either. They don't fit the look in my opinion but if you like them get them.

Idk they may not look that bad! I like wheels that show the lugs best but that wheel would have a similar look to this I think (maybe I'm crazy!)

I think if the tires are taller and your truck is low enough they'll look pretty good. With the tires that are on there now, I don't think they will fit the look.

Re: "Project S" - My boy Sam's '72 2wd Blazer -The Red Sled
Anybody ever thought about doing a chrome C10? My buddy owns a vinyl shop and they wrapped a chrome G8 for one of their company cars. I would typically steer clear of a wrap because it is tough to get them perfect, but this thing looks crazy! He offered to do my old Blazer, and I am thinkin....
(perhaps with some painted rims to contrast the abundance of chrome?!?!? Maybe with some painted Centerline Smoothies???? Any thoughts? Since I am running the '68 clip, would you paint the grille white? another color?

That looks wild!! I say since you have a white top you should paint your wheels, bumpers, headlight bezels, and grille hoops white! I think that would look pretty cool

Re: "Project S" - My boy Sam's '72 2wd Blazer -The Red Sled
Well, the Blazer hasn't seen much action this summer. It fired up today for the first time in 3 months It is (as many would say) "on the back burner".
But, my son still talks about it a lot. And when we started the project, I told him he would color a picture of it every year until it was finished so we could see how his vision of the Blazer developed. On Thursday, he asked if he could do the picture for this year, so I printed it out. Thought I would share his result. His desire for blue with orange flames hasn't changed much. But, it is still not looking like "Red Sled" is the route this truck will be taking. (unless you check out my 5 year old daughter Ansley's version of the Blazer. It could be argued that Red Sled is the theme on hers. Sam's rendering: Ansley's rendering:
