Re: Today was a good day

I went with the Mustang tank. Both braces removed.
Had to cut about 1.5 inches of each frame rails to get it to fit.

Re: Today was a good day

Got the tank fitted. Is the rear crossmember supposed to be at that angle or is it bent?
I'm liking how this tank is going to fit!

I've seen a number of the cross members here on the forum that are offset from side to side.

Re: Today was a good day

I like that mustang tank. Does it have a sending unit? Where are the outlets for the fuel?

If you don't tell no one will know.

What is that about a 16 gallon tank? I like that it doesn't hang down much below the frame rails.

Yes 16 gallons. Yes I didn't want it to hang down either.

Re: Today was a good day

I used the exact same tank in my 71. I used the Ford pickup tube and brazed a penny over the return. Then put a universal 90 ohm sending unit in the top of the tank and added a vent to the filler neck. The tank fits and works great. Best thing is that it doesnt hang down so low like the blazer tanks or some others. Dont let anyone discourage you from using parts that work. There are tons of '32 Ford coupes with LS engines. It works both ways....

I welded my chevy unit to the end of the sending unit that came with the tank. Will know if it works soon.
I use whatever parts work best. I have an 85 Toyota rock crawler with chevy engine and dodge 1 ton running gear. Has a ford tank in it too.
They're just parts...

Re: Today was a good day

Since the fuel fill on the tank is 2.25 I found this filler to mount in my bed.
will add a cover to keep just from collecting inside.

She's almost done. Just need to finish up welding the bed, bodywork, and touch up paint.

Re: Today was a good day

Buffed half the truck. Not bad for 45 year old paint.
