Re: tilly to the rescue

thanks, and its great to be posting again...

some of you guys know that here we fix a few trucks for others. mainly metal and body work and as i get closer to retirement i want to up the level of what happens at the station. well, its starting to happen...

meet kim and bens 65 C20 farm truck. the plan is to fix the bad rust issues while keeping the original paint patina. reupholster the seat. remove the saddle tanks that weren't supposed to be there. drop in a v-8. convert to overdrive auto trans. brake job, lots of electrical and fix everything so the truck is safe to drive.

Re: tilly to the rescue

That's awesome that the picture posting tutorial worked for you! I'm glad you're back to posting pictures, because I really enjoy this thread.

I really like Kim and Ben's C-20. With your magic touch, it'll be killer. I was wondering what the heck the things were above the rear wheel openings, and I figured that they were the fillers for the saddle tanks. Yeah, those have to go bye bye.

Re: tilly to the rescue

been a busy month. had a couple of different projects roll in, one was a 67 el camino for some paint and body work and the other was an airstream trailer that is being converted to a mobile store for a clothing outfitter. will post up pics of those later.

on tilly this month time was kinda light. did the driveshaft make and remake thing. moved the bed forward a bit to center up the wheels and test fitted the fenders. working now on the cowl corners and grill, the hood and steering column. that will be a pretty good month if i can get those things done.

pics are the bed after moving it forward and the second one shows the gaps between cab and bed as well as the fenders.

Re: tilly to the rescue

heres an update on the green c-20 truck of sam & kim.

took the saddle tanks out and scrapped them, also removed the homemade filler tubes and pulled the front fenders to get at the rust. the paint will have to be blended to match the patina everywhere the repairs are done and that will be a new challenge for us. never tried matching old paint but the first thing to do is compound off all the dead paint and get back to the color underneath.

first pic is dead paint and the second shows the tired 6 cylinder coming out. the original plan was a v-8 and overdrive install but things changed to a power glide and overhaul the original 6.

third pic is the bed boards which will be filled a little and blackwashed. also the wheel tubs are out and heading to scrap, i think the cows were very nervous riding when gramps was driving. this pic also shows the big holes where the side tank fillers stuck out, more patchwork and blending on this too.

tell me about the tank... though i've thought it would be a good truck tank, with the straight-up spout and skinny design. you better hang on to that buddy (for a future build)... but if you want to let it go, i may be your guy.

[QUOTE=Ta2Don;6307602]Chevys Rule!!! Looking forward to the 19th

thanks bud, too many projects, each pulling at me pretty hard... must choose and focus.
the cat is 'todd' 23 lb siamese (spell check) and a bad ass to boot. you don't want to be on his bad side...
the vette is heading towards the paint booth and then off to the blocks.
