Re: My 69 Chevy stepper
Looking good, Make sure the cab is supported on its mounts and the doors are fitted before welding in rockers and pillar pieces. Keep checking alignment as you go.

Re: My 69 Chevy stepper
Got my new bumper, it looks good but there are two holes drilled in the bottom and I don't know why. If any one has a answer let me know please.

Re: My 69 Chevy stepper
I see you got your wood bed floor installed. I also see you covering it up. That is why I have not installed mine yet. Along with the carb. didn't want it setting there with gas in it all this time. I hope to get the carb in a couple months after I take it to the muffler shop. Then I can crank the old girl. been almost three years working on her.

Re: My 69 Chevy stepper
I got all my bed wood fitted and installed, when I get closer to completing the truck I will take it out and stain and seal it. I had to do a lot of modification to get it to fit the way I wanted.

Re: My 69 Chevy stepper
I have just started putting my front clip together and am not happy with my ride height. I screwed up putting the front end together or I need to cut some off my new coil springs. Ether way it don't sit low enough.

Re: My 69 Chevy stepper
If you want it a lot lower carry on with modifications. If you just want a half in lower wait till you drive it,it might come down a little as thing settle and more parts are installed.

Re: My 69 Chevy stepper
Thanks cape codder I don't want it a lot lower but it has a one inch drop spring and a two and half inch drop spindle, in my opinion it should be lower than what it is at this point. I have almost every thing in place, there is not much more weight to add.

Re: My 69 Chevy stepper
It's all covered in tape so it don't get scratched, those grilles aren't cheap.

Re: My 69 Chevy stepper
I never thought of using painters tape when I put my 72 grill together ,I just used a blanket and was very careful with it but I will remember that if I ever do another one .I remember the cost of the new one all too well .My original one was not dinged or anything just real dull so I opted for the new one .My old one will probably become wall art.
Yours looks good even with the tape on it . |

I took the new springs out and put my original ones back in. I compaired the two side by side the old ones I cut some off a long time ago.

The new ones are a little higher spring rate most likely...
