dsraven: You're right. No difference. I was just saying the truck that I took it off of was just a regular GMC.

Re: 59 Apache/C6 Corvette build
I fell in love with the 1951 Caddy front bumper. Thought it would be a good look for it.

Re: 59 Apache/C6 Corvette build
Not me LOL. I give all credit to Levi Green at Hammer Fab. The metal work his team does is amazing. This is out of my skillset. Thanks for the compliment on the truck. It's a little out of the box thinking on this, but the results are blowing me away.

Re: 59 Apache/C6 Corvette build
I didn't see this from before. Not sure on the emblems. We'll see what looks best. GMC, 58 Apache or 59 Apache. The plan was 59 Apache with the v8 hood emblem, but that could change.

Re: 59 Apache/C6 Corvette build
I've seen some cool airbrushed emblems that look like the real deal until you get up close enough to see there is nothing sticking out from the skin.

Wow, nice work. Do you know if they mig or tig welded? Tig is softer so easier to work with

Re: 59 Apache/C6 Corvette build
Most of it is tig welded. The seams in the cab were stitch mig welded and ground down.

Re: 59 Apache/C6 Corvette build
Driver side fender done. Now on to remove the narrowed 59 impala dash we did a couple years ago. Then put in a 59 impala dash that is not narrowed. The steering wheel did not line up narrowing the dash. Now everything will line up correctly. We didn't have the Glide Engineering seat when we narrowed the dash the first time.

Re: 59 Apache/C6 Corvette build
The narrowed dash looked good, but with the new seat in, the steering wheel was off center to the right about 2+".
I just wanted to get it corrected while the time was right and Hammer Fab is doing a new firewall, so...

Re: 59 Apache/C6 Corvette build
looks good.
will you have enough gas pedal room to drive a long distance comfortably? insulate the new firewall bump so your foot stays cool? keep posting, I am getting the itch to get my garage cleaned out and stash the honey do jar where it can't be found. lol. |

Re: 59 Apache/C6 Corvette build
We did have the pedal mocked up to the left of the firewall hump. The steering column leaves about 4" to the right of it. The column sits much higher on the firewall, but it felt correct in the new Seat with everything centered. We may clearance the tunnel hump a little bit if needed. We have some room between the engine and the hump if needed. We'll see this next month.
