not saying thats what it is, but if you have heard of the most interesting man in the world, my friend is probably the LEAST interesting man in the world and someone having him under surveillance was hilarious and outrageous, I was glad to hear he was wrong.

joedoh, we do have AC, it's a window unit and is outside the plastic inclosure, so I don't think that's the problem. Thank you about the truck, hope to have an update soon...Jim

As the old saying goes " life gets in the way". It's been awhile since an update, but between Mark and myself we had things that took priority. Mark was able to get the latch panel and driver inner panel painted today. Here's a couple pics...Jim

Here's pics of the work done on Wednesday morning. Back in Feb, 2015 I repaired and painted my front bumper (page 25, post 625). When I hit the deer it also messed up the front bumper. So I took off all that paint down to primer. In the last pic where the filler is showing, I took down to bare metal, because it had cracked from being pulled at the bumber bolt.

Update

I forgot to get pics of the repairs I made, but it's the standard fill and sand stuff.

First two pics are from thursday work I did. Parts have been wet sanded with 600 wet paper and ready for paint.

The next three pics are after Mark sprayed them late this afternoon.

So that's all the parts that needed to be painted, next will be the cowl section of the cab. Will update when I get started...Jim

Hello Jim. Your last couple pages of your repair and repaint on your truck has been great and I'm looking forward to the final results. I'm a beginner at painting my truck and have had some ok to some not really good at all endings. I'm at the very beginning (basement level) of experience so all I can do is improve. I can't paint my truck all at once so its been one piece at a time. I'll get there someday.
I have a question you could answer for me. Can you tell me about the paint itself. I'm guessing its a single stage or .......?
Seeing what you and Mark have done has given me a bit of guidance to follow. Thank you. Really like your work.

Thanks Earl, appreciate the compliment. Yes I use a single stage acylic urethane paint by PPG. I like it, for making it easier to repair, etc. Mark likes the base/clear coat. Practice is the best thing to make painting easier. Good luck with your painting, if Mark or I can be of additional help, just ask. We're just average garage painters, no pro's here...Jim

Well, it's been a couple weeks since my last update, and life slowed me down again. On monday 9/10 I got the truck into the shop, and got started on getting the cowl area ready for paint. Mark and I removed the top, interior, the hood to cowl seal. Wipers and their bezels and gaskets.

I hope I don't come across the wrong way, and everyone isn't as picky me. But on so many repaints you see paint on the rubber and trim. So I removed my windshield rubber trim to eliminate that problem.

1st and 2nd pics shows the urethane adhesive left, after I removed the trim.

3rd and 4th pics shows the tool I borrowed from the glass shop to remove old adhesive. Pic's aren't that good, and the tool was a little wide for my gap, but it helped alot.

First two pics show the clean up of old adhesive. Pics don't show it to well, but it is cleaned up nice.
3rd pic shows how the old trim fit the the gap (or groove). New trim will be installed after painting.

4th pic shows windshield being tapped up to paint, to keep the groove clean.

Friday 9/14 is a full day so no work, hope to have more this week-end...Jim

It's gonna be just as good as before when your done....

Jim, I have often wished I had your attention to detail and the ability to do things on your level! I don't feel you are Picky you just work at a Level one or two steps above the rest of us. While I might say that's good enough for me you stop and say I could do it better if I redid again. Thank God for guy's like you because they push us to do it ONE more time until it's Right.
