Re: Tootsie build for my mother with cancer

Man guys what the hell is going on with this country. If texas turns we are all screwed. Any way thank you for all the info on texas. I am reeally considering getting the hell out of this state. But back to Tootsie I ran into a major road block while mounting the bumper. When the frame was built the lower hoop is in the way of the lower bumper. I tried to trim the lower part of the bumper but it just did not look right when I mounted it. To say I am disappointed is an understatment. I made the upper bumper mount and I had to cut the lower bar off and moved the lower tube back one inch. It made room for the bumper but the issue is once the frame is gold It will be seen on the bottom of the bumper and I fear it will look like crap or stand out. Here are some pics. Most of the trim is on hood is mounted. Let me know what you guys thinks.

Looks amazing!! maybe you could turn the lower bar upward after it passes the radiator support, then you could make it line up with the bottom bumper holes. Maybe??

The bottom rail needs to angle up, get pulled back, or both I'm afraid.

A couple of tax links for you - quick easy reads. Link 1 Link 2

Problem is that even if I turn them up they will show so I will most likley go with I may make the bar removable and have it chromed.

That's too bad about bumper. Is there any option of reshaping the bumper? Probably wouldn't look as cool though I guess.

I wouldn't move the top bar, just the bottom bar. turn it up toward the top bar after the radiator support.

The truck is a work of art. The front bar is one of those things that will nag you but most other people wouldn't even notice it.

He could but he is in Az and I am here. I can fix it and I am by know means upset with Nathan. Just sucks to have to cut on this frame.

I was never planning on moving the top bar. The issue is that there is not enough room to make a bend on a tube bender to get the bar up. I think I am going to make the bart removable and have it plated so it blends with bumper.

Re: Tootsie build for my mother with cancer

Is the bottom bar necessary?

Lights wouldn't have been my choice but they are there and blend nicely so I would keep them.

Re: Tootsie build for my mother with cancer

I don't think getting rid of it is a good idea because that lower bar is attached to the lower body mount. It would probably be ok but I don't want to take a chance.

Re: Tootsie build for my mother with cancer

I would cut the entire front section off and connect the two body mounts between each other with tubing of the same size. Then build off of the tubing that connects the body mounts to attatch the bumper. Nate could probably do this with the jig he built to build the frame. Eazy fix to me. I would not make anything that comes off and on, you know what is going to happen. It does not look good at all the way it is, with all the money you have spent. Not trying to sound like an ass, just my two pennies. Going to be one nice ride sir.

Re: Tootsie build for my mother with cancer

I think you just need to raise it back up to stock height. Why would someone do this to a truck ! ??

Do what you do man .. you'll get it.

Truck looks great but personally I think a stock bumper would look best.

Re: Tootsie build for my mother with cancer

Houston is not bad , but you want to live towards the out skirts of town. Conroe , Kingwood , Cypress, Pearland are all getting more populated now . The thing is Texas is a right to work state , so more people want to move for jobs from other states also the housing market crash did not seem to be as bad here as everywhere else. There are lots of car shops around and a few race tracks. LOL Hope this helps.

What's Nates take on the subject?? I'm sure you guys can come up with a fix for this. As for being Anal about it. There's just no other way to be when your that detail oriented!!!
That bumper doesn't look bad. But a stock one looks best IMO.

Great job bro. I can't get over the way this is coming together. Mad skillz!!!
