I was going back and forth between the black/white and black/orange houndstooth, but my wife convinced me the orange wouldn't match my truck, so I gotta give her some credit. I think the black/white looks good with the silver on the gauge cluster bezel.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

I had a good day cleaning every nook and cranny on this 71 frame. The rear crossmember I thought was interesting. I am going to look but I bet it is part of the serial number.
Have a Blessed day

Getting her ready for a LY6 and 6 speed auto swap. Cleaned every nook and cranny only to find that I needed a wire brush and scraper.
Look at the rear crossmember, this is a first for me to see.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Installed a temporary front fender and made some brackets for the front turn signals so I will be able to drive my truck while several parts are off at the body shop. Waiting for a new cam to arrive so I can finish the Vortec head upgrade.

It's a Mobil1 filter that refused to come off. There was paint on the block and the seal stuck to it. You can see a little red on the seal.. I have since cleaned the paint off. I am also feeling a bit skeptical of the recommended 1-1/4 turns past contact they show on the sticker.

Talking Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Transmission leaks fixed (shift shaft and Speedo gear) - though I didn't do it myself. Replaced signal mech, hope that nails my short/blowing fuse and after replacing all the screws, inserts, and springs I did a very early morning headlight adjustment a bit ago! Nice to have a morning drive in the truck :-)

Oh and for a nice little topping, noticed my antenna was loose and moved, so I adjusted that when I got home.

1/4 turn seems a little loose, but I agree 1-1/4 is way too tight.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Rebuilt the top end of the steering column yesterday. My truck had a broken hazard switch when I bought it and never replaced. Put in new levers, signal/hazard, and indicators. Only issue was a I mangled the end thread with the puller, so I'm currently trying to figure out to best rectify. Still need to correct the indicator position as well.

Dapper OE7's with the OE Lens upgrade.

They were not cheap, I love them and consider it money well spent. I can see until the next day and when the brights are on, I see until next year LOL.

Great service too, as I had one where the low beam went out. They send me a new light, then asked me to send a photo of the one I took off with the power line cut from the transformer. Real nice guys out there.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

I'm nearly done refinishing truck parts off my project. Really I send most of it out. This is part of the last batch of cold processed Cerakote. Beyond this and thats, all hinges, the steering column under the hood & drive-line were done this way. The coater says Ceracote does real well with moving parts, time will tell.

Color or shade changes under light and that. They're black satin, but by this picture they appear more gray to me.

A nice thing about the relays is that the voltage drop from the headlights is gone, and the marker and tail lights are brighter.

New crate motor on the way to replace former new crate motor. It appeared to have been dropped at some point and took out the intake manifold on one end and flex plate on the other. Should have the new motor at the shop Wednesday and the truck back in the garage Friday.

My kids ordered my kit from summit . Mar-k had a Christmas sale 20% to but it was still cheaper paying full price with $ 50 shipping . I think shipping was upwards of 300 with Mark- k . And the kicker is it was dropped shipped from Mar-k but under summits shipping agreement with UPS frieght .

Side note summit will honor the 20 off but you pay the full shipping
