Re: 1969 Short Wide
Everything looks great Mike, I think I see the end of the tunnel. Love the color and that fan mount is pretty slick. Very nice!
You get the rusty one, I get the other one

Re: 1969 Short Wide
Looking great man! I had never considered detailing my fasteners out like that. Just another "might as well" for my build now - thanks! Like a DA I didn't do a real good job of bagging and tagging. I can see myself doing the work and being short a few.

I didn't bag and tag any of my hardware, and since I actually tore down more than one truck I have plenty of extras. I'm sure I will end up short on one of them though. I'll cross that bridge when I get there. I'll be glad when the arctic weather goes away so I can get something done..... |

Re: 1969 Short Wide
Thank you both for the offers. I'll have to find time and see if I can't find a shop that sells them.

I haven't looked in on your progress in awhile. Looks great Mike. I'm doing a similar fan on my truck. Your sheet steel looks awesome

Re: 1969 Short Wide
I honestly never checked lmc for the door hinge bolts.
Checked them out just now and it looks like they're considered 'exclusive'. At nearly $2 each, I bet they are. I found another site asking $3 each. wow

Re: 1969 Short Wide
I'd bet them $2 screws aren't like they used to make them either!

Re: 1969 Short Wide
More winter busy work.....at work where it's warm.
I started rebuilding my vent windows. I got one just about done. Hope to finish the other one early in the morning. It is taking the best of two sets to make one. Both sets have their share of issues but together I can make a decent pair. I decided to reuse the factory soft ray glass. Hope the minor scuffs and scratches won't show up too bad. No funds for new glass right now. Got a great deal on some Precision weather strip seals from member Laidbackrecreations HERE Thanks Sarah and Kyle! Super fast shipping and service! Didn't like the way the aftermarket rivets fit too loose, so I made my own out of stainless like the originals. Notice the ones on the left are .010" bigger on the diameter like the GM rivets. This is for the main pivot. Mine on the right: One side pretty much finished:

Re: 1969 Short Wide
Nice job dude! Those "home made" rivets are awesome! I left my original pivot rivets in there cuz I was worried it'd look like hell. I also cheated and threw a couple little tacks down in that area in pic #2 What did you use to stake them down? I started with that little tool that came in the kit but ended up using some various different punches I had.

Re: 1969 Short Wide
Thanks. They worked out pretty good. I'm thinking I need to make a new tool to stake them though, the one I bought just isn't hard enough.
