Nobody would ever guess all the work that went into it, looks just like new. Great job!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Well, nothing yet...but I plan on blasting the drivers' side radiator support tonight. Hopefully I won't have to work this weekend and will have time to blast a lot more parts.

Leaned on the bed and looked at all the junk in the back. Thought, it's to damn hot outside to run to the dump with no AC in it. Went back inside and watched tv.

Cleaned the stickers and goo off the new Gabriel gas shocks that just arrived, now shopping online for a toggle switch with an illuminated tip to use as a back up light indicator.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Well...you would not think it would take 8 hours to prep 2 cowl corners but...I had 3 sets of these things, one set was rusted out on the top and were original to my truck, one set did not fit the truck right, the other had an 1 inch antenna drilled in with a 3/16 bit, so I ended up cutting the rust out on the original ones and repairing them, filled the emblem holes while I was at it, 8 hours later I have a set ready for final sanding and coating the inside with por 15, next step is repairing the hood !!

Looks like you are well on your way to having it turn out as nice as your Henry J. It's nice to see one restored, since many of us make numerous modifications.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Thanks Mark! I only have $300 left in my fenderside budget for 2010. The painter wants another $200 but the paint, reducer and hardener have all been purchased. As well as all of the hardware. I changed my mind on the color and will not go with the original light gray, but will instead do ivoery over light blue. I am surprised you remembered that I owned a Henry J. Here is another image of that car.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

disassembled my newly acquired SWB Fleetside bed. built an engine stand for my also newly acquired 283 to sit on. Otherwise, the 5 million degrees in the shade drove me back in the house. I am sure i won't be getting much done until around Oct when it begins to cool off some.

the fuel line busted and was spraying fuel out at about 15 psi
i guess the starter sparked when i tried to start it and the passenger side of my engine bay was up in flames
i immediately killed the fuel pump and ran for the fire extinguisher
it took two of them
the only damage it did was burn the battery cables
and the whole engine bay is covered in dust from the fire extinguishers

What are these lights from originally? I feel like I remember them from one of my Dad's cars but I can't remember which one.

They aren’t original to any specific car, they’re aftermarket Unity accessory lights. Long ago I had seen them installed on many cars from the 40’ & 50’s. I’ve always been a collector of Unity products, liked the quality and the way they looked, so I figured there must be some way to use them that looked nice (that and I wanted backup lights). Of course it took me about five years to figure a way that I thought would look good! Here are a few pics of the box flap and instructions, obviously designed for a 40’s car. The newest date shown is 1951. They still come up on eBay somewhat regularly in NOS condition. One just sold last week.

Good thing you had some fire extinguishers, better be carefull or you'll set yourself a couple years behind!!!!!! you need to get rid of all rubber fuel lines!!! 50- or 100 bucks is a good investment.
