Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
I got out there and repurposed my cement mixer making a wheel thingie on my frame. I will add a front wheel and I will be able to move it myself.
But nothing can top the cool 58 Corvette steering wheel I got today in the mail for the truck, oh yeah baby! Brian

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
The weather finally broke today in Ohio, with a high of 80 and low humidity. I'll be in the garage all day trying to shoot three of the four base coats on some of the front end big panels. (The masking in the picture covers the side that is already painted.)
I also wanted to say that my build thread is active again, with hopes of getting everything painted this year. The link is in my signature. Apologies for the pictures that disappeared. They are still in Snapfish, but Snapfish broke the links.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
After much troubleshooting and finding all my old sensors out of spec.(I knew better than to use them) I went to the auto house and got all new sensors.
Smoothed out the engine. Time to move on to the next task.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
I got the front dolly thingie made for the frame. I mistakenly made them too high, but we will see, it's not the end of the world.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
Slathered on a little basecoat today. I was going to wait until everything was in 3 coats of BC, then scuff it all and shoot a final coat and then the clear, but this covered so well and looks so good -- without a bug or anything else -- that I'm thinking about shooting clear tomorrow on this set of parts, gambling with the paint match down the road when I do the rest. The worst that can happen is that I waste a little clear.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
Tonight I took one step forward and two steps back back, GEEEZ.
After having some bad news hit me like a brick today on the way to work, my daughter calls me to tell me she is getting a divorce, CRAP. Then more bad news from a friend of mine's 10 year old grandson that looks like he could have a VERY serious health issue. I just didn't feel like working tonight. I got out there anyway and drove my truck for the first time! Yeah, I drove the frame forward on it's wheels! WHOOO HOOOO! I figured I would remove a few bolted on parts. I ended up not being able to stop and remove them all, all the bolted on parts are removed. I then went to push it back and the front dolly thingie bent all up and basically fell backward all screwed up! WTH! I know it wasn't the strongest thing in the world but WTH! I got to looking at it and was confused why it bent, there were welds I didn't make, WTH? Then I realized, I NEVER WELDED IT! Geeeeez, I had just tacked it to trial fit it, GEEEEZ. So, I had to fix it, I just had to, I removed it, straightened it, welded it all back together and then bolted it back to the frame, WHOO HOOO, but rolling my floor jack back there I broke a damn sprinkler head off! GEEEEEEZ I should have stayed inside and said prayers for my daughter and friends grandson. Brian

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
Oh Brian, what a day for you! So sorry to hear about the divorce and health issue. Our work on the truck seems really important until those kinds of things enter our lives. That's when I realize that what happens in the garage is just therapy.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
Well, a few of my parts are purtier than they were yesterday. I started off the day by killing about 15 flying bugs that had found their way into the garage overnight. They must have liked the smell of the basecoat. I was really worried, but by 11:00 all the bugs were gone - but one. He found his way onto the middle of the hood, but he was late to the party. He was stuck there for about two hours, but I finally knocked all but his legs off, which stuck to the hood. He'll buff out, but he's gonna be really tired of flying while he tries to grow new legs.
