Re: 69 c10 -- first project!!
motor went in to the eng shop yesterday to get cleaned and mag'd. once i hear back from them i'll know better where to go next. for now im working on setting up this new garage, new insulation, electrical, lighting and drywall. should be all moved in next week, unfortunately theres not enough room for my truck so its in storage at my folks acerage till i make room.
ive decided to make this winter engine building time, im quite excited as this will be my first ever forced induction build! i sat down with the engine shop rep and discussed my vision and how he can help me make it all work, im quite excited after what we discussed and the numbers we came up with. i dont think it will dissapoint me or you!! all for now, kyle. |

Re: 69 c10 -- first project!!
nope. i will be using the stock crank with forged rods n pistons as well as new bearings and rings all set up for forced induction. due to cost ive decided against twin turbo and decided to build for a single 76mm turbo instead. i'll have the longblock built by christmas, and im hoping to get a built 4l80e FOR christmas (most likely a gift to myself haha) then i can put them in place and see what trimming i have to do to the cab so i can start my bodywork on it next spring.

Re: 69 c10 -- first project!!
so due to some confusion with the shop ill be bringin the motor home to blueprint and preassemble myself. this will be the first time ive ever done it so im a little nervous, but between this forum ls1tech and my "how to build ls engines" book i have full confidence. just waiting for the shop to install my cam bearings then ill bring it home, most likely weds next week.

Re: 69 c10 -- first project!!
so ive brought almost everything home from the machine shop. key "ALMOST". aside from forgetting to order new cam bearings setting me back a week, they now inform me that they had the wrong rods aswell. so now im waiting another week or so for the proper rods to get in and then they have to rebalance the rotating assembly. last time i ever use this shop, and will suggest others go elsewhere as well. what was supposed to take 2 weeks, has now been 5.

Re: 69 c10 -- first project!!
Just found and read your thread. It is looking good and I can't wait to see the finished engine setup. I am wanting to go with twins. I was impressed with the power of the LS and now want MORE! LOL
