When ever your ready, PM me and we will swap numbers. I'm not the brightest light in the pack, but I put out a little glow.

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build

Going to be installing new latches in the doors. I chose to use bear claw type latches. I had used them before and they worked good. Make sure you buy good quality to start with, not the cheap crap.

My install is a little different from most, as I will be installing mine the opposite of most.

This shows the opening I cut for installing latch.

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build

This is the piece I made with the latch. I chose to mount mine in the back body door opening. I will show why a little later.

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build

Here it is with the striker mount in the door. This left room to reinstall the window channel in stock location.

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build

By mounting the latch in the body it allowed me to make up this manual button system for opening the doors. A hole was drilled in the cab corner, pipe welded to the hole in corner, and a threaded rod thru the pipe with a knob on the end. Push up on the knob and the door pops open. Part way up the threaded rod is a tee mounted, to this I added another rod that will stick out passed the interior panel for inside use. The top of the threaded rod is secured to the lever on the latch.

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build

I decided I did not want any of the vent stuff on the cab. The drivers side was welded shut. This view shows the passenger grill cut out.

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build

Here I'm cutting off the top part of door. Cut was made at the top of the body line, this will eliminate where the old window surround was installed. I had to remove this so it was level with the rear of cab.

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build

This pic lets you see what I was referring too. I also had to rework the cab body line to line up with the door better.

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build

By removing the top part of door piece (left) I had to make up a new piece that would stiffing up the top of door, and have a place to attached window felt. The piece on the right is my new piece.

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build

Not a good pic, but if you look at the opening you can see the 1/8" steel piece that was welded in.

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build

Now the inner and outer height is the same. I also modified the inside garnish molding to extend back and tapper to an end.

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build

This was the windshield header and how the door matched to it. Once I start making the top this will all change.
